Not 1 but 2 Wheel bearings out...
Anyone else have this issue? I took the whip into the shop yesterday because it felt and sounded like a wheel bearing issue (according to Chino) and sure enough there was a wheel bearing out in the right front wheel.
Picked it up...but as soon as I started to roll I could still feel and hear a more subtle low thumping noise. Apparently I also have a wheel bearing out in the left front. I only have 16K miles on the car so I find it odd to have wheel bearings going out so quickly. The BMW dealer I took it too actually had wheel bearings in stock which means they have been replacing them. Just curious to know if anyone else has had wheel bearings go out so quickly? P.S. - Thanks again Chino for setting up the mini-meet at the Sky Way. Lots of fun and great pics from everyone. SS

Hey Mark, glad to hear you got that one bearing replaced. Sorry about the other one also though. Whoever worked on the car should have been able to notice there was still a noise if he road tested it afterwards...
I had 39k on my last 335 and no bearing problems. I've only seen a few rear ones go out on E9x at work, but they had more than 16k miles.

Actually the rep did know about the front left bearing being out as well, however, there was a specific reason he could not replace it. Apparently in this down economy BMW is not reimbursing warranty items which are not expressly noted by the customer. Meaning if I came in and said, "Hey, I think I have a right front wheel bearing out"...and the tech replaced BOTH front bearings then the dealership would get stuck with the cost of the second one because I only came in referencing the one bearing. I can understand why this is the case even though it is a little frustrating to have to take it back in again. Regardless, it will be covered under warranty so that saves $500+ right there. BTW...my new sig picture is one you took. I just added a little HDR effect to it. Great snap and angle you took.
