The Denver Omelette Alarm System
Whaddya guys think?
Highway robbery or it's just the cost of owning the Ultimate Unalarmed Driving Machine? The Service Department want's $300, some tax and change to install the OEM alarm. I purchased the alarm system from eBay, which included the new siren (a charge of $179 from the SA if it was the old one) and who knows what else...possibly realignment of orbital satellites in space for good measure. 1.5 hrs to install and of course, the activiation - the ever so "complex" coding and intializing of the vehicle's system...that could take a couple of hours, he says. I know there's some BMW techs out there and you're gonna say, "But Neuron! It's not that simple!" Yeah, ok. Neither is making a freaking Denver omlette, but when you're using a non-stick pan, hey! The shit's easy to flip over. Flip the switch Einstein...turn the clown nose on so I can protect my car from thieves...there's some flippin' irony to that. Just tired of the "don't look at the man behind the curtain" crap and it having to cost me money. Yea, I've seen the DIY, the 5 buck, Radio Shack-Tim Allen solution to blink the nose - and it's all good. I just wonder sometimes what the techs, the SAs and the man running the Service Department really say and do when they're adding up all the hours, parts, labor, showtunes, and conversation if Benji should have really won "So You Think You Can Dance" show on Fox. Yup, a Denver omelette takes skill, ladies and gentlemen. But installing an OEM Alarm System on a $40,000+ sports sedan...that's a real culinary art. It's the art of cooking the books for a profit of about 500%. Deeeeeeeeeeelicious.
