335 vs IS-F (just curious)...
i already did a i read a thread about dinan and procede, but i wanna know if any JB3 guys out there have raced an is-f. Im an auto e90. Jb3 map 7. 93 octane. No supporting mods other than a drop in. I can put in 3 or 4 gallons of 104 octane race gas on top of 2-3 gallons of 93 and still run the map 7. i think hes got an exhaust.
Drivers race? i'll win? he's gonna walk me? Either way it goes im gonna try it out. just wanna know what to expect. If i got my DPs and a DCI i could maybe run map 8. but it wont be here till mid july. Feel free to chime in and put in your $0.02.

IS-F's are comparable to the new M3's right? You may take him down low but at up top he will pull on you.. i think...

what color is this said IS-F?
Depending on his exhaust setup, he will probably win. I know that they gain like 20HP with a cat delete! You MIGHT have a chance with race gas, Don't go just on pump. Also racing in this 95 degree heat will be a big disadvantage... Good luck, keep us updated |

I was at Moroso a couple of months ago on v3 and 103 oct gas as my only mods. There were two ISF's running that night as well. I was running 12.6's consistantly, and they were 12.8's. They did have like 1 - 1 1/2 mph trap speed on me though... So I say drivers race. Whoever gets the jump/launch will win in the 1/4. From a roll I give the advantage to ISF...

With MS109 on map 8/9 you'll have a better chance. The ISF's gearing is remarkable though so it truely is a drivers race for you if your 6MT. On pump he'll walk you.

Get your mixture up to 97+ Octane, switch to Map 8
If race from a roll, start in 2nd at 40 mph. You should have him up to 100 or so, but once our cars hit 4th gear, they drop off in acceleration a decent amount. The 8 speed auto of the IS-F will then have an advantage. You might be able to hold him off up to 120+, but he'll probably still be creeping up on you and may start to pass by then. They are faster than M3's by a bit. Stock they seem to trap in the 115+ mph range, where M3's are 112-113 mph. On Map 8 with 97+ Octane and no other mods, you will be in the 115 mph range. So again, it should be close from 40-110 or so, then I think the IS-F will start to slowly pull. If you go into 5th, he'll start to walk you no problem. Nothing like a NA V8 with nice gearing to pull hard up top, where our cars begin to get heat soaked and pull power at that point. Now on a nice cool 50 degree night at a bit of elevation and you'd walk him. Have fun. But again, show up with 97+ Octane and run at least Map 8 Don't do any weight removal, if you beat him out, you'll get tooled for it and the "yeah but you were 100 lbs less weight than stock" If you get beat stock weight, then you get beat, no biggie. |

im definately not gonna be on pump. im gonna run sunoco 104. and run map8. might order a DCI intake this week just to help out. oh and im an Auto. i shift around 6200rpm or so. I think i stand a fighting chance. I mean i'd like to win but i just dont wanna get totally walked.

with JB3, I thought map 4/5 pulled harder than 7 with just 93 oct....if you're mixing, go 7/8
I raced my friend's ISF, held him off till about 90-100, after that he pulled on me....hard! E93 here though, 400lbs more than you E92s... |

i had an isF loaner for a week. I took it to the track. I did 12.7 @110mph. That was the best out of 3 run back to back.
I did 12.9 @ 114mph with exhaust and sstt my first time at that same track. IsF did it without breaking a sweat though.

I disagree, with dp's, intake, catback, and the right tune i give the race to the 335... especially if it's a steptronic car and with race gas then then ISF will even more likely lose. I don't imagine an ISF hanging with an e9x m3 or e60 m5: and shows i might be wrong haha.

Time and time again the fastest times with the autos come by going into DS mode and just letting the computer do the shifting for you. Again, start in 2nd at 40 mph (you'll be in the 4000+ rpm range. Right at peak torque and right at the upswing of the HP. DS mode, manually select M2, then just nail it and let the car do the rest. Just concentrate and staying as straight as you can. Make sure windows are up, sunroof closed. If you are on 100 Octane and run Map 8, it will be a close race until you hit 4th, and then as I said, the IS-F will probably start to pull a bit on you. If you are going to go Sunoco 104 and can get close to pure 104 in the car, give map 8 a shot for the first run. If you lose, give map 9 a shot after a bit of cool down time. You should take it from 40-120 on Map 9 and hold it off if you go past 120. 104 Octane, Map 9 only, no other mods on a 6AT you should be trapping in the 116-117 mph range. Enough to take the IS-F On Map 8 you'll be in the 115-116 range. |
