Taking a trip to nyc, need suggestions!
hey guys i posted this on the nyc section as well, but just thought perhaps if any of you visited recently and had any good suggestions as to where to go that would be great!
I will be in nyc for 4 days days next weekend, i've been to nyc before, but it was very brief, and didnt do much, but a bit of a shopping and woodbury. Just curious... I will be staying in soho.. and good suggestions for food/shopping in this area? I don't mind taking the subway, all around town... or cab... I know 5th ave is good, for shopping, but any specific stores I should hit up? My price range will range... i know that is a big factor, I would love to go to stores that we don't have in canada... As for food, I eat almost anything! Price range for food I want to stay in the mid-range as I rather spend most of my money on shopping / attractions. |

Hey man, I was just there a few weeks ago....
Soho is a great place to shop.....there's tonnes of boutiques there, just walk around the area dude.... Food: there's too many restaurants dude......there's a bistro, I keep forgetting the name, across from the "Gansevoort Hotel" in the Meatpacking district.....there's a few restaurants there that are really good.....whatever you do, do not eat at the Sushi Restaurant (Ono) @ the Gansevoort Hotel.....it's waaaaaaaaaay overpriced....the food is good, but not THAT great.....and portions are tiny-ass.....I am biased, coz I had just returned from Tokyo a month before, and sushi there is fabulous, and you wouldn't believe how flippin cheap......also, don't eat italian in little italy (which is close to SoHo)....it's just touristy hype, not that great food. If you want good Italian, try Inoteca (wine bar/resto) on Ludlow and Rivington (on the corner).... When it comes to food though, dude, there are SOOOOO many restaurants there....just pop into any one of them, and you probably won't be disappointed......there were so many we wanted to try, but never got around to it..... Partying: Check out: 1.) Marquee on 10th and 27th (ish)...I went there on a tuesday and it was rockin dude, rockin....$20 cover, no need to get bottle service, you'll get in, and there's nuff hotties.....tel 646-473-0202 2.) Cain around the corner from Marquee---it's hit or miss though with that place, but it's funky....I swear, when you walk in, you'll think you entered a strip joint.....it's more of a lounge though.....$20 cover....but you get stamped for ins and outs, so my buddy and I bounced between Marquee and Cain all night....Marquee was better though.... 2.) Citrine Club: tel # is 2127777775......cant remember where it is.... 3.) Pink Elephant -- also 10th and 27th ish....like around the corner from Marquee, and like across the street from Cain.....you'll HAVE to do Bottle service here, and it'll run you $$$$. I think for one bottle, it ended up costing us about $700CAD (total for the 2 of us).....but you won't get in unless you do, and I would call ahead to get a table.....google their #....that place is off the hook dude.....trust me..... Hope this helps bro......Have fun! Marty

Well, I wanted to see Wicked on Broadway, but it was sold out....
just go into Times Square, there's a place called TKTS, red building, sells last minute tix.....but to be honest, if you really wanna catch something, I would book ahead of time....again, just google Broadway musical tickets or something.....or maybe try tkts.com....I think that's the website.....As for shows, I heard Wicked is supposed to be really good..... Shopping, SoHo is mainly boutiques and designer shizzle....I think there's a Diesel store there, but I remember there's D&G, Armani, and a bunch of urban designer boutiques there where you'll find stuff like Juicy Couture, CNC, Reiss, etc........if you got $$ to spend, you'll love it in SoHo.....that city is so fuckin huge dude, you can get exhausted just by standing in one spot watching all the human traffic..... Have fun dude!

Go to little Italy in NY and try the pizza from Lombardi's. It was a one hour wait to get seats, but the best pizza I've had! It was also featured on Oprah.....
And as Smartys said, if you want to go and watch a show, get your tickets from TKTS. Best advice would be to get there one hour before it opens, that way you could watch ALMOST any show you want. If you a sports freak, check out the ESPN restaurant. When we had gone the NHL & NBA playoffs were just starting. They have 2 massive screens, with 9 televisions around them, plus a touch screen tv at your own booth! Plus the food was pretty good too! For shopping, there is place just outside of NY that is supposed to be crazy for shopping. Woodbury outlets, but only go there if you want to do mad shopping, otherwise lots of places in NY. NY is one of my fave places in the world, so much to do there! Have fun! |
