manual driving and shifting...
I have a huge request or favor to ask of someone. It would help my skills as a MT driver if someone could possibly film themselves driving with the camera focused on the dashboard showing speed and RPM. Reason I think this would help me is so I get an idea as to how slow I am at shifting..
If possible, if the video could include shifting from 1-2-3-4-5-6 under daily driving conditions, no WOTs... and include shifting from 4th gear going 50mph, to 2nd making a right turn... it would help visually if I could see at what point you brake, shift, and how far up you blip the throttle to get it to shift into 2nd smoothly.. And any other downshifts perhaps from 6-5 on the freeway would be great. But, the 4-2 shift is the most important since thats most commonly used to take turns or when getting off the offramp. I know this is a big request, and I would be surprised if anyone actually have the time to do it, but, I'm just putting it out there in hopes someone is bored enough to help a crappy MT driver get better ![]() |

Here's another idea: Try your local thread and see if any local member is willing to ride with you for half hour! That should take care of it, and removes any guesswork.

Alot of your request/question that you made will come with your pratice. See how fast some else can shift or at what RPM in what gear really won't be a subsitute for you trying the different combo's yourself.
Alot of what you are looking for is a "feel". Like the last poster said, see if there is a local member that can help you out. Or look into a DE class or autoX
