Question First BMW Ordering Questions and Help?

First I would like to say I have taken a lot from reading this forum. You guys have an obvious amount pride in the cars you drive.

We are loking to order our first BMW and have some questions that would help us in the process. Hope I can get some advise from the experts here.

-Is is going to be difficult to negotiate when ordering a 2007 3 Seires when building to spec.?
-Would you have greater leverage power if you can pay w/ cash thus becoming an in and out for the dealer?
-I am assuming the more options the greater the chance of negotiation, as there would be a greater accural of profit for the dealer, I could be wrong.
-What is the difference between the Invoice Price and the Wholesale price that is posted on this forum?
-Would the 335 have a greater % of resale power over the 328, 4-5 years from now?
-Can you trade in a non BMW at a dealer or would you have to sell on your own?
-Is there a guidline into what would be considered a good deal?

I know it's a lot of questions, but hoping I can get some

Thanks

1. This close to new release I would think that it will be more difficult to negotiate a very good deal.
2. It's been said that paying cash is not the advantage that people think. It's best not to open with that line, but leave it to the end. It's more important to leave the CA with the impression that financing is not going to be an issue.
3. Always negotiate up from Invoice, what ever that is. Number of options is irrelevant.
4. Invoice = Wholesale.
5. Don't know.
6. Haven't heard that Dealers refuse non BMW's as trade in's
7. Invoice + $1000 or less.

Sell it on your own...9 times out of 10. See kbb.com and what dealer trade in vs. private party sale. Also check your newspaper and see what's out there to get a sense of what your trade in might be worth. You have to make up the difference in sales tax savings...in some states.

I ordered my e90 325 in March 2006. I was paying cash and got one dealer down 2100 off the retail base price, no one else would do more than 1200. I worked from wholesale however. No one would negotiate on options, but I did not see a big markup anyway. Im happy with all the options i chose and they are worth the extra money. Premium pkage, Xenons, Auto, Comfort Access, I did the extra 75.00 for the Satellite Radio prewire. You never know what you will want in the future and figure its good for resale/trade in. I ordered ,before it arrived (and if you order, it took 2 months, but might as well be forever) 18" 196 wheels, chrome exhaust, blacklines, wood shift knob, wheel locks, spoiler, trunk liner etc from Morristown BMW in NJ.(they also sell alot of BMW accessories on Ebay, but i just went direct) I think you get about 40% off retail. And Tires from Discount Tire (they had free shipping and the best price) I saved thousands off BMW retail this way. As far as trade-in, I had a 2 1/2 year old loaded Honda Accord Coupe. I would have saved 950 in tax if i traded it in, but knew the Dealer was going to take me for a ride. Because I paid cash for the E90, i took delivery and tried to sell the Accord myself. Got nothing but dumb %$& people call. If you sell yourself, you have to compete with the Certified used cars, and warrentys, bad cars from the Hurricane floods, and the unknown of the real condition of the car. Not worth it. I personally would never buy a used car, but truly would not from an individual i did not know. I finally took some KY jelly and my car to Carmax and gave it to them and they gave it to me.
