The press review 335's given initially probably had around 285 whp. Just a guess.

Those numbers sound good. And confirm my butt dyno! I knew it had to be more than 300 hp stock (crank). nice.
Now, I definitely want to dyno the car stock before I start modding.

I just had my 2007 335i Dyno’d. It's mostly stock with a Milltek catback exhaust. They did 3 pulls, all in 3rd gear. Very disappointing… 269.6 ft-lb. and 242.5 whp. After what I’ve been reading (275-285 whp stock), I expected much higher. My torque is peaking at about 3200 rpms and tailing off from there, which is impacting the hp which peaks at about 5500. Any thought on why this would be. Note that I bought the car three months ago and don't know if it's been reflashed, or what else has been done. My butt dyno says it is very fast. I buried a 535i the other day. Thoughts? Thanks.

pointless thread is pointless
every dyno reads a bit different and can often be very inflated. You can use a Mustang dyno and get 220whp on a stock 335 then go and put it on a dynojet and see 282whp. guess what, the car is still making the same power will be just as fast....or slow.

![]() hell I just had my car on cp-e's dyno Monday night testing. They had a newer modded GTR on it that put down 382awhp lol......that led to an unhappy GTR owner when in fact his car is probably fast as balls.

Peak numbers are irrelevant when comparing to another car on any other dyno. I've personally seen over 300whp on an otherwise stock 335i at a local Dynojet... granted that was with a full correction factor (around the 1.25% range) at 6000 ft elevation (turbocharged vehicles don't lose as much power as elevation increased, making correction factors irrelevant). Either way, the same car strapped to another local Dyno Dynamics would be lucky to break 245whp (with "half-correction factor" normally reserved for boosted machines on that dyno)... Dynos are a wonderful tool when it comes to tuning/measuring gains & losses from modifications & tuning. However, not all dynos are created equal. Take the same car, strap it to a Dynojet, Mustang Dyno, Dyno Dynamics, Dynapack ect, and you'll get a variety of different results. People should try and see that they are only a tool, not an absolute measurement of peak power. If you want a true estimation of "power" per se, a better question to ask would be "what is the highest trap speed recorded by a stock 335?" Trap speed is a much better indicator of peak power than a dyno number IMO...

Okay. This is making me feel better. I also just went out and raced my friend's 2008 335i. He just had the HPFP replaced along with 5 fuel injectors and a software tune. He says it's runniing great. We raced pretty much dead heat.
BTW, This is the Dyno machine that they used: "Our state-of-the-art testing equipment is the Land & Sea’s DYNOmite Chassis Dynamometer, this systems combines sophisticated data-acquisition electronics with DYNO-MAX PRO™ software for accurate, repeatable, and safe horsepower testing. This system utilizes dual tandem-rollers for stable testing and eddy-current absorption brakes for load simulations." |

266 whp / 274 lb-ft for me.
Wow, I had no idea my dyno clip from 2006 is up to 50K views. Must be a record for 335i dynos. Considering my thread on e90post only had 1K views, must be a lot of people searching on YouTube. The tune I dyno'd is so out of date though. Talk about a trip down memory lane ![]()
