Looking for a Motorcycle
So I'm just getting my M1 license. And I am in the market for a motorcycle. I am looking for a bike that is beginner friendly. I plan on using the bike to go from South San Francisco Area to San Jose daily. Looking for something that has a good avg MPG. I was wondering some motorcycle savvy heads can help me out with a motorcycle recommendation.

Get a used Ducati Monster. It's a great daily and is pretty comfortable, but still a Ducati in every way.

My Ducati Monster is for sale! Its the 800cc model which has a little more snap than the 620cc, which you will quickly get board with. I learned on this bike as well.

Definitely a 2003+ Suzuki SV650.
Fun motor, bullet proof, great gas mileage, comfortable, beginner friendly and it's super cheap to buy, repair and upgrade. It also makes for an awesome race bike. ![]() |

same situation, just got my m1 this month
looking to get started on either a 2009 ninja 250R or a 2000 yamaha R6 or a 2001 cbr600f4i ...i know people recommend starting out on 250cc...but given the ninja 250r is slower than the 335i's...i think i might outgrow it a bit faster i wish we had more choices here in Canada...but insurance is killer for people under 25 for new bikes that are 600cc and above...for a 250r i'm looking at 1500-2000 per year for liability only |

Trust me, you can't go wrong with an SV650. I've ridden a few of them and every time I am thoroughly impressed. ![]() |

I'm looking for the supersport / sportbike look...althought the 250r is slow, it has that look...but then again its small i looked into the suzuki gs500f's too, adequate power..but the appearance doens't appeal to me i'm looking into the 2000 yamaha r6's right now but the insurance is double of the ninja 250r, and its a near 10 year old bike With the insurance rates raping us in Canada...i might just have to bend over and take the ninja 250r |

Definitely start with a 600. You'll outgrow a 250 very quickly. If you're looking for a kneel-over sport bike look I'd go with an R6. If you want a more ergonomic bike and are willing to sacrifice looks, SV650 is the way to go! Congrats by the way. I got my M1 relatively recently as well.

I also want a bike for starter. I don't want to spend anything over 5g, preferably used.
http://www.fremontcycle.com/bikes/index.cfm look for Kawasaki EX650. It is dirt cheap at 3grand. I called and talked to the sales, it has 4500 miles, something about the front fairing broke...hence a salvage title. does this affect the ride? dangerous perhaps? I don't know much about bikes |
