2008 328i INTAkE question

Is it worth putting an intake on a 328i AUTOmatic and if so what are some good brands and prices? I found this one...

http://www.car-stuff.com/basket.php?add_item_id=2363239

Not sure if its too much or not.

Injen claims the largest gains in hp/torque (12/10) for a solid price. Not sure how reliable those numbers are.

I got the AFE intake in my 07 328i. What I noticed is that the car lags a slightly when accelerating up to 40mph but at higher speeds that the performance definitely increases. I would also recommend that you drive in DS mode if you want to see a real difference.

Other note:
I just installed a BMW performance exhaust this morning and let me tell you, WOW!! The car runs smooth as silk now and that 0-40 problem has been completely eliminated. So I would HIGHLY recommend that you also swap out your exhaust IF you want to see a real difference in performance.

In my opinion, you want to go with a intake/exhaust combo.

I paid $1,099/w shipping and $70 for the install. The stock exhaust really holds the car back. Replacing it is a MUST if you really want to improve performance. A CAI alone is not going to do that much for you.

Well I don't know when an Intake became a cosmetic mod but Injen and AFE are probably the 2 best intakes for the 325/328/330 for the cash.
You can always go BMW performance or GruppeM

I haven't done any "performance" mods to this bimmer yet, only cosmetic, but from past experience with other cars I never noticed huge differences from any single upgrade like an intake, but when you combine intake, exhaust, and some good tuning the difference in drivability and especially throttle response are pretty impressive. In all reality, you are adding a very small amount of horsepower, but the improvements in throttle response make the car FEEL so much faster, it's like driving a new car. The only problem with our cars, is the fact that good parts are SOOOO expensive. On a side note, a buddy of mine has a performance shop and I was going to do a Borla exhaust on one of my cars, but later decided to go with Corsa. But anyway, he made the comment that a lot of after market companyies base their pricing strategy on the retail price of the car. Interesting I thought, and then we looked at his Borla price sheet for cat-back exhausts and it was pretty surprising! You could literally look at the car, think about its price range and the exhaust system would reflect that. Try it sometime. Not all companies are like that, and don't get me wrong Borla makes a great exhaust but it's kind of a shame just because you drive a BMW that you have to pay more for things like exhaust. Just my 2 cents.

I like my Simota... its the old version but it helped a bit with throttle response when I got it... the gruppe-m sounds AMAZING but it is a hefty price. The only thing I don't like about the injen is that there isn't a good heat shield. I'd prefer a fully enclosed intake over an open version any day.

+1000 on injen intake sounds nice. but i dunno about performance gains..
i mean honestly couple hp's not gonna make that much difference but makes the car more enjoyable.

i wouldve gone bmw performance to avoid swapping or warranty issues. but $700 bucks for an intake is just not doing it for me.
