M-Sport Package Option

I just came back from the dealer today and have negotiated $45K for a Le Mans Blue 335 XDrive with:

1. M Sport + paddle shifters
2. Fold-down rear seats

That's it.

I really wanted to get Crimson, but unfortunately it did not come with the M Sport package. Does anyone know if the following options are available?

1. Buy M Sport parts from a third-party and do-it-myself;
2. Dealership can contact factory to install customized Crimson M Sport package (I don't see why this would be a problem)?

Thanks!

Problem with buying all the M sport parts separately is that it will cost a whole lot more than if you have it built with the car at the factory. Remember also that the M sport is not just an exterior change but also a few interior changes that include a M steering wheel and anthracite headliner

i added the Ms port as a last minute thing. i decided on my order and right away i was looking at all the mods that would be in the m sport (aero kit, anthracite headline .....) in the end i wanted to have an authentic M sport car. it'll hold value a lil better i feel. keep it the way it is.

Like you said, M sport is available only with certain colors - at least as far as I know. Only your dealer would be able to tell you with certainty whether that can be changed at the factory level.

I would think color choice is more important that M-sport vs. Sport. It would never be cost effective to try to duplicate the M-sport, but there may be things in it that don't matter to you. Certainly there are aftermarket bumper choices that are available and you can certainly swap steering wheels, shifters, etc. Headliner would be $$.

Thanks for all your input, everyone. Really appreciate it. I'm going to have to decide whether M Sport or color is more important.

It'd probably be cheaper for you to have you car painted (after you recieve it) than it would for you to add all of the parts that go into the M sport package. (not to mention the higher resale value of having the real package over a regular that is made into a M sport).

repainting your car also depreciates the value, keep that in mind

Really? I didn't know that. I figured it wasn't as big of a deal now that anyone can see the accident history of a car (assuming they were reported in the first place). I know a repainted car used to be an indicator of a damage and repaired car before Carfax became what it is today.

Forza, you want the m-sport package over the color, trust me. And it's cheaper to have the car painted red than to attempt to duplicate all the msport options. I'll list them all for you so you can see what I'm talking about; front bumper, rear bumper, and side skirts. Shadow trim lining which is beautiful!! M steering wheel which I prefer over m3 steering wheel. M shift knob. New parking break handle. M logo door seals. M foot rest. The black headliner is a big plus! Rear parking distant sensors. And most important..... The rims!!!!!! In pictures they don't look too good, but in person they are beautiful!! Trust me paint the car later if you are that into red.

Get the M-Sport, don't try to do all the parts after. It is going to cost you way more. I figured it out once.

haha thats awesome. cool feeling right? don't mean to jack the thread, but what did you order?

OP. i was thinking about it and came to the conclusion that a crimson red M sport would look pretty sick, especially with the shadowline. another option you also have is to get a crimson wrap- you'll have both the kit and color you want and wont lower the value of the car itself, all while keeping the paint underneeth perfectly fresh. also, i do believe it may be cheeper in some instances. there is a thread that someone started on here and went from alpine to saphire.

Much better to get the m-sports package factory installed. Decide what's more important to you - the sports package or the colour. What parts of the m kit are you particularily interested in, if only a coupel of things you could always add them after the fact

On another note - does anyone know if there is a difference between the: "BMW Performance Suspension" and the "M Sport Suspension" that comes with the M Sport pkg? Thanks.
