AR DP's Installed!! Impressions
Finally got my AR downpipes installed today. Want to thank Mike at N54Tuning for such great service and prompt delivery!! I got the downpipes installed at Autoleader in Calgary from a former 5 year BMW tech named Ryan. Install went very smoothly and he made sure every detail was covered. I would recommend anyone in the Calgary area to consider Autoleader to do your mod installs. They are the exclusive installation shop for Tunerworks. I had my JB3 set on map 5 and man, I tell you the turbo spools considerably faster. DTC has to be enabled or you will be held back where before I could have had it on or off at full acceleration from a dig. The sound is awesome and you can definately feel the 20 or so HP gain. I will have to top up with some 93+ octane or additive to switch to map 7. Is adding octane booster the same as filling up with a higher octane fuel? I dunno. The DP's with install is not cheap, but worth every penny. Everyone at the shop was truely impressed by the quality and fitment of these pipes. They came with the upgraded gaskets which is head over heels improvement over the stock ones. Kudos to AR Design, N54Tuning and Autoleader. I am one very happy camper

Congrats. DPs are best bang for the buck after a tune for turbo cars. And a big NO to your question.

If you want some REAL octane booster, we carry the Klotz line of products. Its not cheap by any means, but the results are VERY impressive. Ive run it in the 335i and the ESS tune ate it up! Noticeable difference for sure, even buddies who were familiar with the car made mention of how much quicker the car was on "race" fuel....

AR's pipes were very nice when I installed them a few weeks ago.
and NO octane booster isnt worth anything. I've heard good things about Torco though.

Torco not going to leave tell tale yellow tinge in the exhaust? If something should go wrong you will be SOL with that "evidence" no?
Hey Sniz, still thinking about DP install later. Too busy now it would have to be September after summer school at the earliest coz now I have no free weekend. I dithered after that little pipe scare. But then Murphy's law kicked in and shit happened anyway. I tell you I am jinxed man. I like the car as is, but hard to resist wanting something extra. DPs possibly in my future, even if when is yet unkown.

Glad you are happy with them The DPs are an awesome mod when combined with a tune. Did you get a look at the stock ones If you did you will see exactly what a drastic improvement the AR pipes are over stock.

It is pretty straight forward if you are mechanically inclined. I am not, except for simple mods The front axle needs to come off along with the subframe for the E90's. If you have a E92, it seems fairly straight forward.

Both require axle removal. Neither require subframe removal.
