Cleaning your Bimmers

Never realised there were soooo many polish products out there!! This is what I've bought anyway. Did a test patch after I got the car washed, got to say it does the job very well. Any pointers by you guys?

How often should I polish ma Bimmer (each time after I wash?? Which is usually once every fortnight or so)

Anyone used this product before??

Not looking forward to the elbow grease involved in polishing the Bizzer up

i used to wash and wax every wkend....

i used autoglym before and its ok....used their car shampoo and the aqua wax....its ok...

now i'm using Meguiars tech wax....not bad either, better than the aqau wax I would say....well the shine and finish is much better.

Autoglym is a nice product. Be a little careful if using the super resin polish regular as it is a mild cutting compound but does contain filler for hiding very light scratches

I wouldn't polish after ever wash the more contact you have with the car the more likely you are to get swirll marks. Get a quality shampoo such as Zaino 7 or born to be mild from the dodo juice range and a lambswool mitt. They will give a nice shine.

Then i'd apply a couple of coats of a nice wax. As the shampoo there are a few available my choice is triple x from the chemical guys range

This is only my opinion and what works well for me, i'm sure others will recomend other products

only stuff i have used......

Menzerna powerfinish is a good product for machine polishing. I have used it twice and it gets rid of swirlies well and leaves it glossy.
Wax - good value and incredible shine and protection - collinite marque d'elegance. £25 per tin but will probably last you (not your car) a lifetime.
Ez glaze is a pre wax, post polish thing which is superb, enhances the finish a lot.
If you cant be arsed with all that, i would recommend getting a quick detailer spray. This is great to put on after a simple wash and leaves the car looking immaculate. Spray and wipe off. Done in 10 mins.

Got to agree with you there regarding the quick detailer

Megs last touch is a great fast detailer and drying aid .Although the silcone in some detail sprays has been known to destroy micro fibre cloths

AG Super Resin Polish is better than Deep Shine. You can't wax the car after using that stuff. Was a bitch to buff off compared to AG SRP. It also leaves a silcone/waxy residue. Binned it to the bottom of the pile after one use. I wouldn't recommend it.

Have a look at www.detailingworld.co.uk then you will really see just how many polishes, waxes, etc, etc are out there!

Almost every reply you get will be different in some respect.

Have a look at detailing world for some examples of what is out there. Start to learn the full gamut of the products available, how they are applied and how they suit your needs and availability of time to use them.

If you get keen then the first thing to do is to seperate the washing, polishing and protection stages. Polishing need only be done infrequently to remove old wax, other contaminants and marks. With the right sealant or wax applied to a properly clean car you can just wash and dry for some time, or even just top up the wax or use a quick detailer.

Some of my kit about a year ago... now moved mainly over to Dodo Juice:
