Extended Warranty Choices besides BMW?

I've had my 2008 E91 for 11 months and already have 32,600 miles on it. The next scheduled service is in 18,000 which will probably be in December-close to the 50,000 limit. I want to keep the car two more years and will probably sell before it reaches 100K. I've read these posts but pardon my ignorance what is the better bet for me-an extended warranty or maintenance plan? I have a great relationship with my SA at BMW of Bakersfield. How does the Auto Club and Geico extended warranties compare and are they honored by BMW?

I'm looking into the GEICO plan myself...it's certainly cheaper but obviously I haven't had to exercise it yet.

If you financed through a local credit union.. their extended warranty is really good, buddy has had 3 new Jag motors in his and they are not cheap with no issues on the warranty

Based on my homework before I extended my warranty, 3rd parties are a no no because they have to inspect the work and actually approve the car getting fixed. Which takes days while you sit with no car. Best thing is to go straight through BMW. My friend works for BMW, so I got a good deal on my warranty.

The BMW warranty is only good for 6 years, i.e., additional 2 years after your original warranty is over. Does not help people who want to keep their cars longer and drive less than 12000 miles a year.
