Retrofit the automatic climate control panel
Has anyone here successfully retrofitted the automatic climate control panel to a "manual" air con BMW e90?
I bought an auto climate control panel on ebay for £15, is it really as easy as swapping over the panels, "plug and play"? I accept that I won't have full "dual climate control", which I don't really need - all I am after is the cosmetic improvement of the digital panel over the manual air con controls. If anyone could tell me whether a) this will work, and b) whether the auto module will be able to control my "manual" air con - particularly which functions will/won't work, I would be *extremely* grateful. Thanks, Matt |

You're definitely going to need, at the very least, coding. I think I remember somebody just plugging in the new panel, and it behaved erratically--fans constantly fluctuating from low to high, airflow direction changing, etc. So there's definitely a software component to this retrofit.

hi guys. A member posted about this a few days ago. he changed the auto and did the coding. Car would still not accept the auto unit. It would cycle through everything and never stay on the option you chose. He even said heating stayed on even after the car turned off. It messed with AC somehow as well. Unless you are super skilled and can pinpoint what needs to be altered and changed I would say live with the manual controls. I have manuals and I have used auto as well. Sure it doesn't "look" as nice but it gets the job done no less. If I could get auto though I would, but doesn't look like we can.
