How do I remove the panel around Heated Seat buttons, etc..

I have a 2009 e92, and I can't figure out how to remove the bottom panel of the center stack (the one around the radio and the heated seats buttons). I can remove the Auto Climate Control above, but it doesn't seem to be blocking the bottom panel, but I just can get that bottom panel to move. Anyone done this?

If I remember correctly, I think there are a couple of screws holding it on on the bottom. Try removing the large center trim around the shifter which would give you access to them.

I've actually got a replacement piece which helps to look at it a lot. From what I can tell there are no screws holding it in. Just 4 long friction fitting type of things, but I just have no idea how to 'pull' that panel hard enough, or get the right kind of leverage on it.

Maybe removing the shifter panel will help.

Just pull on it. It should pop out fairly easily. Just try not to bend it too much.

The pulling on it is the part I'm having trouble with. There's no way to grab it, and the sides are too tight to put any tools in.

I can first hand tell you that you should go to the local MB dealer, and order a pair of their "dash hooks". They are an MB tool, but work fantastic for all sorts of cars to get in behind the panels to pull them(provided they are supposed to release). They might cost you $10, but will save your finger tips. I have found if you go in from the bottom in a corner of the panel, down by the console trim, you can pull it out far enough to kind of walk it out, but don't bend the silver pins because they hold that piece in.

the main dash panel piece is soft so you could squeeze a knife covered in electrical tape between the panels. Just be careful that’s all.
