difference between jetblack and metallic black?

hi im new here, planning to buy a 325xi. I want to save as much money as possible. I'm sure I want a black bimmer but just wondering whether the extra $400 or so is worth it for the black sapphire. Can someone post up pictures of their difference? Thanks.

one has a metallic finish, one doesnt. Pictures aren really going to do justice. Go to your local dealer and look at the difference

yeah you can't see the difference in pictures, I personally like the jet black as it's shinier when it's clean than metallic

Ive got an E46 met black, and the swirl marks are awful, and extremely visible under sunlight. However, I have put the car through more than enough car washes, and that'll destroy any paintwork eventually.

You'll have to be extra careful with either colour, but personally if I had to choose between the two again, i'd still go with met black and would put more effort into care and maintenance.

Best way to decide is to go to the nearly new BMW's on the forecourt and closely examine the paintwork on some older models, as this will give you an idea of their durability. I couldnt believe the swirl marks on some cars which were almost brand new, and the only colour which appeared to stand up to the test of time was titanium silver, hence my next colour choice!!

Oh, and you'l probably have a better resale value with met black?

Good luck.

Metalic finishes are much easier to care for. Flat black looks great but gets swirl marks right away. I would recommend the metalic finish.

There are threads on this forum with hundreds of responses about this topic so do a search.

I personally went JB

save the money, my dealer could hardly even tell which car was which between JB and BS! The metallic looks less black. I got JB and I don't have any regrets
