K&N vs aFe?
Is there an advantage to buying either brand when just buying a replacement filter? I'm not looking for dual intake or anything like that but I would like a better flowing stock size filter. Is there a better filter than these two?

They are both solid choices, we carry the aFe because we have been happy with their performance and quality. I recommend going with the oiled if you want to maximize air flow as the dry is more restrictive. However, the dry will be easier to maintain as it does not require reoiling the filter element when you clean it.

aFe is better than K&N (and subjectively speaking seem to be better constructed) :

"The stock filter will flow MORE THAN ENOUGH AIR to give you ALL THE HORSEPOWER the engine has to give." This article talks about trucks motors but you wonder if forced induction changes the rules. |

I don't have know which is better, but with my aFe DCI, I can hear my turbos spool better. Before I had only an upgraded filter and didn't notice any difference sound or performance.

The truck motors are forced inducted (turbo) diesels. I just mirror the test on my site but found it somewhere on the web, I think the original link is dead.
