WARNING about amplifier and subwoofers

I just wanted to post this as a warning to some e90 members, today a friend of mine who just purchased his e90 325i went and attempted to install an amp for subs in his car. After installing it he did not mount a cable correctly, a cable which anyone without experience would not put in correctly. Because of the lack of experience and support installing the system, as he was driving the amp caught a flame in the trunk of the car. The reason for this post is just to make the point that if someone makes a DIY and makes the install seem easy because of his steps and watnot, that doesnt mean that you wont make a mistake. So i just wanted to make the point, that when installing something like this, its worth a bit of money to have someone do it or help you do it so that somethign like this doesnt occur. Anyways im sorry for the poor grammer in spelling, but hopefully you got the point of this. Plus who wants there E90 to burn

Wow, sorry to hear but hopefully a lesson for those who think they can casually drop something into the car.

How bad was the damage?

Did he forget to fuse near the battery even the amp has a fuse on it? Not more than 9" away from the batt, always remember that.
