Took advantage of a long holiday weekend and spent a lot of quality time detailing my exterior! Even though I've been doing my own cars since high school, there's a still a big learning curve. It's nice that this forum offers great resources and knowledgeable members who detail professionally. There's so many products out there you could go nuts with and try...detailing is so much fun!
![]() I tried some new products/techniques for the first time. (Menzerna SIP, and 106FF) Previously I used Menzerna IP, and FPII, and was very unhappy with results. Next time I would like to try Menzerna 85RD! I noticed the usual light swirls, with a few RIDS from weekly washing and drying. Overall the car was in decent shape, but I could tell the FMJ completely wore off, even with using a QD between washes. I usually do a full detail twice a year. (Early Spring, and Late Fall) Daily Driver: 08 JB E90, 13,000 miles Only hand washed weekly with 1Z Einszett Perls Shampoo, grit guard, and Lake County Ulti-Mit / The Uber Premium Boar's Hair Wash Brush. (Seperate bucket for wheels) CAR WASH- Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo (normally my wheel shampoo) Lake County Ulti-Mit Grit Gaurd Stoner Tarminator, and yellow safe scrub sponge (for bugs) Big Blue Waffle Weave Drying Towel WHEEL/TIRE WASH- BLACKFIRE Wheel/Tire Cleaner EZ Detail Brush Microfiber mit for spokes CLAY/LUBE- BLACKFIRE PolyClay II BLACKFIRE Detailing Clay Bar Lubricant POLISHING- PC 7424 Menzerna SIP (2 Orange LC CCS Pad) Isa 50/50 wipedown Menzerna 106FF (2 Black LC CCS Pad) Isa 50/50 wipedown Lots of MF towels LSP- Menzerna FMJ (Red LC CCS Pad) 24 hrs cure time Dodo Juice Purple Haze (By hand) EXTERIOR TRIM- 303 (Rubber) Wenol (Exhaust) Blackfire One Step Plastic Cleaner, Polish & Glaze (head/taillights) WHEEL/TIRE PROTECTION- BLACKFIRE Tire Gel Wheel Wax GLASS- Stoner Invisible Glass I'm very pleased with how well Menzerna SIP worked. 106FF goes and goes forever...you can easily break it down for more then 5 minutes per section. The ISA 50/50 wipe down seemed to help the process this time. Last time I just moved from one step to the next. FMJ gives you a laser like shine, not deep, but very blinding bright in the sun light. In the morning, after FMJ cures, I'll apply the Purple Haze by hand. I'm excited to see how it looks afterward! BEFORE ![]() ![]() ![]() AFTER(only SIP at this point) ![]() ![]() ![]() Final Shots(only FMJ at this point) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Looks GREAT miro!!
![]() Is there anything that truly looks better than a properly polished JB car ...... ? With the Purple Haze you aren't going to believe how much magnification of this shine you'll receive. May be tough to capture it in a pic. After you apply & remove the Purple Haze (soft or hard?) you'll want to do a once over with your QD for the final wipe down. Directly following this process a chair, brew and camera will be required. ![]() |

![]() Haha, chair and brew for sure...When I was done I almost fell over cause it was 6AM and I was so tired. Next time I start at 6AM and finish at a decent hour. Thanks for the tip man. You've been a sort of inspiration for my detailing addiction because your JB coupe looks so damn good. This is the DDJ PH I have. Should I apply it to the whole car, let haze, and then wipe down, or apply section by section and wipe down? I need to get a new QD that works well the soft Purple Haze. I haven't been pleased with the Menzerna HGAS.

![]() I would go ahead and apply it to sections. I typically will do the front third of the car, middle and rear. That way by the time you've finished wiping the wax off of the rear of the car the front has had time to haze over and be QD'd. Something else that works well is chilled water in place of a QD. Take a spray bottle filled with water and let it set in the fridge while you're doing the waxing. Take a break and then use the chilled water to spritz the paint as you're doing the final wipe down. Works well and is a hell of alot cheaper than the QDs out there .. ![]() I like the Menzerna however, the problem with using those over a wax are that they are synthetic sealants. They'd do best to be used under the wax as they won't bond on top of the wax. Been there, done that ...... lesson learned. ![]() |

Put a coat of Dodo Juice Purple Haze on last night. Couldn't really tell how the finish looked because it was dark, however the paint felt slippery and slick. I'll post up the results with pics tonight after work...if the rain holds off. ![]()

Nice job. I spent some time detailing this weekend as well. I did 203 followed up by 85RD on my SG - using my new 7424xp. The results were pretty good, but I still have water spots on the horizontal surfaces and some deeper scratches.
Do you think the SIP with an orange or yellow pad will do the trick? I hate to spend more money (the SIP isn't cheap), but worth it I suppose.
