Have seen it on a couple of cars. Headlining needs to come off so they can get to the seals and the roof mechanism to adjust the fit.

Yes indeedy...just picked up my car from the dealer. My open sunroof was rattlin' a good un till I could stand it no more. My car was going in anyway, I was paying the dealer to fix a dent some numpty managed to put in my rear bumper (needless to say they numpty didn't fess up and just b*ggered off). Whilst it was in they fixed the sunroof under warranty. Apparently it was a complete "cassette" change as they called it, headling undone and lots of grovelling inside the coupe to remove the whole until, many hours labour as well. Certainly fixed it a treat though! |

Yes it does seem like the standard technique is to fob off. To their credit my dealer did just crack on with the job. I think they tried several techniques to fix it, gave up and did the whole cassette change.
I'm a reet fussy owner though, I think they probably realised I wasn't going to let it go. Guess its up to you how much you want to push. I feel I pay enough to prop up BMW...its a genuine problem so its payback time! Good luck if you go for it. |
