Does this have the same code scanning/resetting capabilities as the BavTech tool? If so, this is a no brainer!

That's the one downside however the app is really flexible and has a lot of tools. Compare this with the relatively limited Peake tool that can only clear codes and do basic programming. The Peake tool also has no real time data logging capabilities or the ability to upload graphs and data to your computer.

.... and I paid $160 for my BASIC OBDII code scanner from EQUUS Innova. For $30 more (if you have an iPhone, Laptop, or iPod Touch obviously) you get a TON more functionality.

I am not familiar with the Bav Auto tool so I can't really compare but it does have the ability to read codes. It can also reset CELs with the correct Dash Command software on the iPhone.

but can it read all codes? hidden codes? tuner codes and shit like that?

The hardware has the capability to read any and all data from the OBDII as it's just a proxy. What software you use will determine what functionality you extract from the hardware. I suggest researching Rev and Dashcommand, both great utilities for iPod/iPhone, though I know there is software for the PC too.
