Sport Mode Then Shift Into 2nd with triptronic at Max RPM. Always works for me best this way.

Only if you rev it too high.. This is how I launch, it gives you an extra jump above just flooring it. Ofcourse you have to do some trials to see where your cars/tire/tunes sweet launch spot is. But once you have it, there is a nice advantage to using that method.

for all you guys who do not brake boost at say 1800 + rpm, when was the last time you won a race at a stoplight or a 1/4 mile track ? (note that mini vans do not count).
... also note i do not condone street racing.

many people find it better to shift at approx 6,500 rpm - not redline

first if u have an automatic and u dont break boost off the line your an idiot. Its basically the same thing as the MT guys dumpin the cluth. Sorta. All u gotta do is spool the turbos. Second if your worried about tire tread DONT RACE. Third make sure traction control is completely off. That means hold the DCT button for 5 seconds. And i shift at 6300-6500 rpm. I dont hold it til 7k or so.

Thanks for all of the responses people.

And no this is not for street racing. It was a friendly bet between my coworker (IS350) AND I (335i), but we will make sure we do it on a track.

It's not worth loosing my license or worth hurting innocent people.

Absolutely, you're at your peak power before you redline.
