Dealer paint protection?
Going to pick up my new LeMans Blue 335 Msport convertible soon. After the run through of the features and before the I finalize the financing, my CA will try to sell me on various dealer add ons such as leather treatment, fabric protector, paint and finish protection, perhaps a clear bra and and a tire warranty.
I don't think the leather or fabric protection makes any sense. I can't believe that a brand new car needs some special paint protection treatment. However, I am not religious about washing and waxing my car. There are just too many things to do on the weekends. Normally I'll hand wash every month or so and have it detailed twice a year. Is there any reason that this less than rigorous attention to the shine would justify the cost of dealer applied paint protection?

I wouldn't purchase any detailing services the dealer offers. But your new car will need some prep. After you pick up your car, take it to a professional detailer in your area and have them polish/wax the paint.

if you want some real protection for your paint, go find a detailer and ask what kind of sealants he has. those last pretty long depending on which one
edit: actually if it's protection you want, it isn't expensive to buy yourself. Expect to be spending a solid 5-6 hours DIYing it though here's what i recommend you get car wash shampoo clay bar kit - claying isn't from the devil. you just have to learn to do it which isn't hard sealant - duragloss #105 lasts 6 months extra bits that are nice duragloss #601 before #105 helps it stick better a carnauba wax of your choice |

Thank guys for the advice.
I"ll skip the dealer paint protection and find a good detailer in Northern Virginia.
