iPod adapter stuck "Loading..."
Here goes the story...
Recently, I picked up the iPhone 3GS and decided that I'd try using it in my e92 '08 335i with the iPod adapter option (where you can control the iPod through the steering wheel). Everything worked fine the first several times as I switched back and forth to my old iPod nano 1G where I had been using my PC (iTunes 7.6 on XP 32-bit) to sync with. Also as a note, I had been using the old iPod nano 1G since day one when I got the car and the adapter had been working flawlessly. When I used the iPhone 3GS to sync, I created lists on my MacBook using iTunes 8. One of the playlists I created was simply a playlist titled "Music". Eventually, I synched my iPod to my MacBook doing away with the PC version of iTunes 7.6 altogether. The problem began where after several uses, both devices would fail to 'load' or be read through the adapter and "Loading..." would be displayed. I looked online and some suggested that iTunes 8 was the culprit or that plugging an iPhone 3GS created a problem. I took the car to the local dealer here in Escondido and their iPods did not exhibit the same problem. I even went out to buy a new iPod just to test out issue using the same iTunes 8 running on my MacBook with a single playlist titled, "Music". The brand new iPod would exhibit the same problem after several times of usage. I'm not sure what hit me but I eventually realized that the playlist title must have been the culprit since my old iTunes on the PC did not have a playlist of the same name. Making a long story short, having the title of a playlist as "Music" on the iPod adapter causes the adapter to display "Loading..." indefinitely. I don't know how many people this applies to but I thought I'd share this recent experience. Hopefully someone can chime in with something to add as I'm rather new in this arena. Also, hopefully this info might help someone out experiencing similar issues. Since, I've tried this with an iPod nano 1G, 4G, and iPhone 3GS. If anyone can provide insight to this that'd be great! To me, it seems as if it has nothing to do with iTunes, PC/Mac, and iPod/iPhone version. |
