Fixing minor scratches and dings
So I bought the touch up paint BMW offers.. tried it on the most noticeable scratch on the car and it turned out looking worse. Looks like a big flat elevated blob and is really easy to notice while walking by the car. I haven't applied the clear coat yet but I doubt it will help. Is it supposed to look this bad? Does anyone know if buffing it after a good wax job will flatten this paint bump or at least make it less noticeable? What other alternative is there to fixing annoying but noticeable scratches on your car without big blobs of paint? Thanks. Mark |

quixx sells a scratch kit, they give you a fine sand paper where you sand the painted spot then apply the 1st compound, then the 2nd and it should look good.

The way to use touch-up paint is to use a toothpick to apply a very, very tiny layer - just enough to cover the scratch. The rest of the indentation should be filled with clear coat. If you take your time and do it right, you won't have an elevated blob.

Not 600, more like 1600 or 2000. Get the Dr. Color Chip kit. You'll have better luck. Fixing imperfections like that will never be 100% perfect, but the purpose of these kits is to sort of trick the eye into not seeing the imperfection unless your maybe 6 inches away from the spot. I've had tiny little scrapes that I can't even find anymore that I've fixed with the Dr. Colorchip kit.
