Its bullshit man. ive hit countless potholes but knock on wood no dammage to the wheels. I hate NJ roads! I was merging onto 78 the other day coming from NYC and i came across the transition from old road to the newly paved shit and there was at least a 6 inch sudden increase in road height that slammed my suspension. It was like driving 70 mph over a mini curb. Bull shit

I go through this everyday commuting to work. Switching to non-RFT's helped, but I still get that loud slam every once in a while.

+1, lmao. you speak only the truth.

sucks i have to send them back to get straightened again..80mph feels like my car is going to shake apart to pieces. WTF
-yeah everyone has been hating on these generals coupled with 19's ..they are solid tires just don't think they are up for a constant beating. i called a tire guy the other day and he told me these are the only tires with a "lip guard" ..uhh what? are you just trying to sell me some tires here? well apparently man they arent protecting the lips too much! or much of the wheel at that ..the tires are pretty worn now probably going to switch them out next week..any suggestions on some tires that grip and would protect my *babies* a little (maybe alot) more?

dude, i think i know the exact place on 78 you mean. there are a bunch of places on 78 where they go from old road to new road but there's that one particular one that is brutal. i also slammed my suspension there. ugggggh

whats your budget?

I've had good luck with the goodyear F1's. might want to try running 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 for a little more sidewall front and rear, although, depending on if your are lowered and your offsets, you might rub.

I'm running F1s in 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 no problems. i do run higher pressures, around 40ish front and rear.

routine spring fixes aka "throwing a shitload of tar into a hole letting it dry, not making sure its even with the rest of the road and calling it a day"..if i had the funds to fix all the roads around me, it would be done right. seriously i've got some air hitting those unusual lumps

im pretty sure it will rub with a 275! 265 is usually recommended by "everyone" ..so i'll prolly stick with it. but the front is def going to need to be upgraded to a 235, 225 is killing me with these generals. my budget is around 850 bucks for tires..(due to the recent -300 for getting the wheels fixed again) how have those been treating ya, the f1's? i was looking at the kumho ecsta's too..or the michelin ps2s but they are a lil pricey

Word of advice, my dad is a civil engineer in the highways department and he deals with people calling and writing letters about pot holes or road hazards (man hole covers, water covers etc). You gotta file a Written complaint, you could do a phone complaint its quicker, but do a written so you have proof in writing about the road hazard.

Also if you wack a pot hole or w/e stop and check your tire/wheel/bodywork and if you damaged anything due to the road hazard get an accident report filed by the police and you can have evidence that the road hazard caused the damage and IF that pot hole has been reported then you can most likely have the town, city, state, or who ever is responsible for maintaining that particular road pay for damages done to your car. Just remember the road hazard would have to been reported already and get a police report or your story never happened! So start writing those letters about them pot holes!!

i've done that many times with no avail( after finally hitting one hard enough to piss me off) .. but three of my friends have hit this pothole now..and we have all complained in writing..noone has contacted us and theres seems to be little hope at this point that i will get money without a police report.

I do that drive all the time. 78 is a piece of shit. Slammed the suspension at least a dozen times. I now slow down to about 30, probably dangerous but I don't want to bend any rims or break suspension parts. Good luck everyone.
