so here's a revision to the original thread, seems like a lot of members are getting troubled by the PoPo lately..

so its simple : include all your most recent woes and tales with the tri state blacktops and maybe entertain/humor some of us!

..i was driving down 476 in PA.. and a state trooper gets in front of me..totally cuts me off..i had to brake 95 percent to avoid F*Cken his shit. ..so i stay behind him for like 20 miles, he changes a lane, so do i. and everyone does the same behind me LMAO!! ..so then he finally brakes and gets behind me and tailgates the F*c* out of me, im talking like four or five inches from my rear bumper..i have the cruise set at 55..not taking me in today buddy .. then he decides to cut off traffic in the left lane and floors it..i mean he took off..NO LIGHTS..swerving in and out traffic ahead..where does authority extend to? what power are we giving officers today..they justify their own shit just because they wear the badge..thats what pisses me off sometimes. having lights and a badge shouldn't justify unsafe driving in any case man, even if its because your pissed a 20 yr old is rockin a bimmer.

omg i cant even count how many times ive seen asshole cops do shit like this. get behind me ride my ass get out zoom past slow down cut people off get back behind people again. its so fuckin dangerous and nerve racking. idk what the fuck theyre thinking.

i have some horrific stories when it comes to getting tickets and stuff from cops. i have 19 points currently on my license and only 1 was a legitimate ticket for speeding back when i was 18 (now 24).

i was sleeping in my car one morning outside my house about 20 feet from my house i live on a long corner and was waiting for parents to leave for work so i could party in the city instead of going to class that thursday lol. cop wakes me up knocking on my window tells me i have no insurance which i gave him my insurance card gives me a ticket anyway. the next day i was having my body kit painted and didnt have the front license plate on cause it had just got finished up the night before. gives me a ticket for that as well.

so i go to the city come back to the train station my car was stolen and abandoned in a field. my 2 tickets were in the car never was able to pay them license was suspended because of it. i also got 2 tickets for my car being parked illegally after being abandoned, it was towed to the impound and the whole kit which was about to be painted was fuckin torn to shreds from being lifted onto the tow truck.

go to court think i have it all straightened out judge says my license is good. i get my car running again but am now missing a bumper cause it got torn off i get pulled over and given a ticket for not having a bumper while on the way to body shop.

pay that shit move to florida... come home to ny going to a club one night to find out my license was resuspended from the previous ticket and a screw up in court spent the weekend in central booking in nyc. now i currently have 19 points but somehow still have a license thanks to paying my lawyer tons of money.

i hate cops. all this and truly only 1 ticket prior to all that for speeding. everything else was truly out of my control yet i got raped thousands of dollars and spent a weekend in jail.

heres my favorite story, im running radar in my favorite spot. just got a fresh cup of dunkin donuts and a camacho cigar. back all the way in so im nearly invisible and set up the stalker dsr. take a couple sips of my coffee when along comes an aw 335i doing 68 in a 35. im watching the jackass pass 3 cars at once and he's trucking down in the opposite lane of traffic, on a somewhat residential street. hes got a carload of passengers and i can see them scrambling to get their seatbelts on.
i pull out and jump on it to get behind this guy and it takes me nearly a quarter mile to catch him. lucky for me he catches a red light and has to come to a stop. i pull this dip shit over and he acts dumb and gives me a tude. he has the nerve to ask me why im pulling him over like its some f-ing mystery. i ask him who the car belongs to and he says, "who do you think, its mine'". then he says, "dont you think an 18 year old can have a nice car? this car is worth more than you make in a year". well the fucking putz has no idea of what cops make these days so i tell him that i have the same car but mines not filthy with cigarette butts and mc donalds wrappers. then he says that im just pissed that he has a nice car and that he young. i tell him that ive had nice cars my whole life but i dont drive like an asshole..
i go back to my car and write him a speeding ticket, 3 improper pass tickets, seatbelt ticket, unclear plates ticket, failure to exhibit insurance card, and then write his passengers some seatbelt tickets.
as i writing him these tickets i watch one of the cars that he passed pull along side his vehicle. its a little old lady and she flicks him the bird..

Since we have you amongst us, would you please comment on the OP's post: why would cops drive like that?
Cops also fail to signal, use their lights/ sirens for non-emergencies, tailgate etc.
It's worth having a camcorder in the car just for this but how can you nail them? Is there a way to file a formal complaint?

i have no idea why a cop would drive like that. some people put cops all in one category and forget that their just normal people. some are good drivers and some are shitty drivers. some are just like the rest of us bmw drivers that get in a car and want to drive fast everywhere.
i agree with you about the signals and stuff like that. i work for a pretty busy department and theres always some shit going on. they fill the cruisers with computers, radars, radio's, and all kinds of other shit that detract from normal driving. i think that your going to see less police use their overhead lights responding to calls because most drivers dont know what the hell to do when a police car gets behind them. if you dont believe me just watch an ambulance going through an intersection, you always have one moron that nearly t-bones it. thats why you usually see cops flying around without lights and sirens, especially if theres not heavy traffic. people forget what kind of calls cops goto and they think that they only going to emergencys if their lights and sirens are on. in my town we go on all first aid calls, fire calls, and police calls. we have to take into considerations how far we are from the call, where other units are, and whats going on at the call. which is why you might see us trucking lights and sirens and then just turn all the over heads off as we get on your bumper.
also, the easiest way to screw up a good job is to get in an accident that is your fault. towns dont have the money to buys cars and dont appreciate when they get totalled.
i encourage anyone that thinks that cops purposely drive like assholes to do a ride along, just contact your local dept. or pm me...than you can see what its like when the shoes on the other foot..

Agreed on emergency situations. I see it every week in NYC: an emergency vehicle trying to get through and no one moving out of the way. It should be pretty obvious: sirens and lights = make way, now!

It is shocking to see how blasé cops are. Like an aloof doctor in an ER I suppose. Though come to think of it and given the scum and situations they deal with, it just makes sense.

You have a tremendous opportunity to educate people when they are caught. I wonder if it makes sense to lecture someone and whether it'd have any positive results at the scale of the society. People want freedom but they take it for granted and abuse it by being utterly selfish.


Now, I wish they'd increase the currently outdated legal speed limits in the country.
On 65 mph highways, most are doing 80-85 in the left lane but you always have that fear that you may get nailed for it.

Is it true? Common accepted knowledge points to the "tolerated" above-the-limit speed so long you "move with the traffic".

I wish you guys would leave motorists alone if they are doing 30 over but nail the crap out of the morons who feel it's ok to be at anything less than 2 x a car's length while following someone doing 80.

Also get the people who hang-out and hog the left lane while the lanes to their right are opened.



P.S: Cops compensation varies greatly of course but it isn't unheard of in big cities to see a cop with ranking, a decade under the belt, court apparences and some over time pulling down 120K/ year. Correct me if I am wrong.

yeh well no body should be driving in the left lane its supposed to be for passing only i mean thats how they roll on the autobahn there would be way less traffic if people followed that simple rule of slow traffic right, regular traffic middle pass only in the left and back to middle.

i have nothing against cops in nyc who actually have to take care of some real issues but when in my local suffolk county town where i see 5 cops hanging out at 7-11 for like 3 hours and then sitting in the same stupid spot over and over just harassing people it gets me aggravated. i was literally at a right turn lane at a red light the light goes green im the only car on the road around 1:30 am take the turn with no blinker the guy in 7-11 comes out and gives me a ticket for no blinker. like wtf kinda shit is that.

Though everyone should *always* signal, on rare forgetful occasions, you don't.
He should have given you a warning only but truth is you'll remember it more if it's a ticket.

On the other hand, I think their superior who seats in the office is unaware of the extend of his staff mediocrity, hanging out while on the job doesn't project a good image of the department. Or he turns a blind-eye to it, as long as they meet their tickets quotas. You guys work with quotas, right?

If they have some free time, why not educate people in the community, deliver some lectures, teach people the law in some areas so that everyone benefits and becomes better informed?

u know what jfarnkopf you sound like a cool cop which is rare honesty....on 295 south i was driving with my parents when a state trooper driving like 70-75 in the left lane and passes by. 20 seconds later another state cop easily going 90 starts tailgating the other cop and then cut him off and blasts off no lights on either...first cop pulls over into hidden spot to get speeders.... i don't get it what is up with that ?

around by me the cops just seem to be doing nothing except harassing people or sitting around. my buddy was a delivery boy for dominos at one point he used to tell me about these 2 cop cars that would just sit in dominos and chat with the owner for hours on end every night. plus the cops at 7-11 just chillin in the back or behind the counter literally just hanging out kickin it. or driving past a big empty parking lot and seeing 4 cop cars lined up window to window just chillin. its obsurd.

its seeing shit like above that makes me hate cops around by me. again this is nto all cops of course i have utmost respect for nyc cops thats like walking around with a target on ur back. but if your a cop and u just sit around all night doing nothing then work for 1 hour and try to bang out some pretty pointless tickets like no signal ina turn lane at 1:30 am when no ones on the road is bull.

they'll get you on those little things..sometimes i do feel like it sucks having a person critique every aspect of my driving..and then being hypocritical on top of that..i would love to document some of the shit i have seen in the past and am sure will witness in the future..but i'm just not out there to get every asshole of a cop in trouble. i don't love cops by any sense of the word but they are people like me, just more inclined to abuse an increased sense of power. it's the human condition. i'm not going to turn into the michael moore of cop bashing. but it is a shame what some cops are getting away with now.
