GVA - Where to buy double sided tape for aero lip install
I believe to install the OEM aero lip I need to use double sided 3M tape, right?
Is there anywhere to buy it locally? Or should I go to the dealer to get it (assuming they carry it) and if so, anyone got the part number for it? Thanks! |

buy the red 3M tape. or look for the heavy duty one. I think homedepot should have it.

not sure what department. you can go there and ask. They should be able to help you. Just ask for heavy duty 3M double sided tape. I think its about 1 inch wide.

Thanks. Should be easy.
The official instructions call for applying this special glue all over. I'm guessing most people skip that and go for this double sided tape instead? Which spots did you apply the tape to? |

I bought my 3M double sided (red) tape at Home Depot in the glue/adhesives aisle. I believe it was $4.87 for a 5m roll.
Best to put the tape anywhere it is in contact with another surface. |

Hmmm... so noone bothered using the BMW glue instead, huh?
Just called the dealer and the Betalink K adhesive costs about $25... wonder if it's worth doing it that way, vs. double sided tape. I suppose with the glue, you probably can't take off the lip once you decide to sell the car. |

the reason y i used double sided tape, is so its easy to remove. I believe the betalink adhesive makes it close to impossible to remove your lip in the future.

Keep in mind that although the 3M tape is strong, it does soften above 30 degC -- I wouldn't hang too much weight from it or subject it to too much tensile forces.

Is this the right stuff? Was the only tape similar to the specs at Home Depot. It's Scotch brand, but it seems to be owned by 3M. One inch wide, red backing, only thing is it seems about 1 mm thick, which I assume won't leave a gap if used at the corners? I thought this stuff would be thinner.
