330d gets evolved

Dropping my pal off down London to look at some cars and I thought its daft passing Luton and not stopping to see what all the fuss is about at Evolve. Rang the lads lads Sultan and Imrhan on the motorway and they said they would wait for me to arrive at 6.40pm due to bad traffic. Any just over an hour later Im back on the road with 290-300 bhp and loving it, the pull on the motorway is awesome, mines a manual so first and second is just a blur. What a great pair of guys and a big recomend from me.
Only one shock as you pull out of Evolve and turn right at the t junction and open it up there's some sort of speed camera right there not sure what it is hope it has not nailed me in the first minute of driving. Maybe if one of the boys read this they can enlighten me.

Well done for the remap.

I am driving down to France in September passing by Luton so I am quite temped to get mine remapped as well.

1. How long did that take?
2. Does anyone knows if you have to tell your insurance? If yes what is roughly the extra cost?

Cheers

I'll wager there are hundreds/thousands of remapped cars out there that the insurers don't know about........

I'd definately have joined that club to but no point now that my wife drives it. It surprises me even more now that I drive the 330d less often how quick is actually is. With a remap it must be sublime.

That does surprise me. I was with them, dirt cheap, and they seemed pretty happy with modifications. They were happy with me having non-RFTs and mentioned that they're happy for 2-3 mods before affecting the price. Unless a remap is considered different.

It is possible because it is a new policy with them and I had not been driving/riding for 3 years when I took it out

Thanks for the feedback Steve. Had an email from your mate Mark with a 730d this morning - he is interesting in having it mapped

bmw330dconv - It is £399 inc VAT for E90post members and £535 for the map and an evolve Switch. (Switch offer only until end of this month)

It is a speed camera. If you saw it flash then it got you. I have been flashed by it before and got nothing through so fingers crossed for you.

There are several threads that discuss remaps and insurance, most people who tell their insurer are paying £100 or so extra, but well worth it if you (or someone else) writes your car off. If the insurance company can tell that the ECU has been over-written and you didn't tell them about the remap, you will be uninsured.

Here's one thread where we discussed this.

Imran, will £399 include the switch?

Does this switch mean I can change the ecu back when i go in for a service? will BMW not be able to pick up any of the mapping?

£399 inc VAT for straight remap. £535 for remap and switch so you can return car back to stock before going into BMW.
