Dent on the hood by a Chrysler: fixable?
I got a small dent on the hood (right on top of the driver side grille). It was caused by a freaking Chrysler "300" series when it reversed and literally sat on my hood. The grille cracked too, and my front license plate fell off as well. Sigh. This all happened when my car was parked and I was watching it from my window. The Chrysler wasn't even parked at a legal spot--in fact it was in front of a fire hydrant. before I got to it, it sped away and I failed to get the license plate number =(
Anyway, the dent isn't huge, but it's definitely noticeable (since it's right on top of the grille). I was wondering whether its possible to fix the dent at a mechanic. I've heard they use some tool to pretty much pull the dent so it rounds up again. Is this even possible? I really don't want to spend 600+ for another hood, but I also don't want to keep my love damaged like that =( Any suggestions? Dent is right on top of the cracked grille =( So, fixable? Yes, No?

+1 How big is the dent? You can try some paintless dent removal services. they usually charge around 60-70 for a dime size dent or around 125 dollars an hour for labor (where I'm from) Time to upgrade to a carbon fiber hood? (on second thought if that happend with a cf hood, i think the damage would not be fixable) |

I'll post pics up as soon as possible. What's the difference between carbon fiber body parts vs regular ones, anyway? (I have regular)

If it's just a dent, PDR can work wonders (and for very cheap money). It can't be too close to the edge though, that will be your only concern.

PDR? dunno it really depends, I'd have to see it. But judging by what you described I'd say probably not, you'll most likely need a new hood. again... |

No no, sorry if the pics aren't that clear (due to flash), but the dent is right on top of the grille (when the grille finishes). You see that small opening on top of the grille? That's where the hood got dented.

See if a body shop can fix it. If you need a new hood than go with a sweet CF hood. Blacked out grills. If its to much, claim it as a hit and run.

I just got a dent removed from the center of my door and the specialist said that dents that occur at the edges of body panels are impossible to remove. Good luck tho.

it looks like your car has a unibrow. Time to get that shit shaved or waxed. I don't think PDR will be able to fix that, but it doesnt hurt to ask. Stop by a shop and see what they say, if they can't fix it, buy a new hood. The person that hit you is a dick for driving away and not leaving any note or anything.

That's too close for me to tell. Can't hurt to take it to a place for a quote though.

I do have insurance, but if I claim it as "hit and run", will they really buy into that? I mean, i never got the plate number down, so basically I have no proof that someone else did it and not me. I'm so upset =(
