You picked one up? What are YOUR thoughs? I dont feel like spending that much so I'll probably pick up a K&N but I'm curious if you feel any difference or hear any difference.

I got one earlier this year and didn't notice much at all, but I figure it's better than stock. The only downside was mine apparently didn't fit just right. It was a little thick which made it hard to put the cover back on.

Realistically speaking, I would think all drop-in filters are going to perform more or less the same as the stock filter. I think you'd be better off saving your money, sticking with OEM BMW filters, and just replacing it more frequently.
Unless someone has hard data to prove me wrong... Last edited by dr.roro; 08-02-2009 at 11:01 PM.. |

The way I look at it is that the increase in performance will be minimal. I would only change because paper filters suck. Its been super humid out and I'm sure that doesnt help the paper any. After that, all the drop ins are expensive as hell for just a drop in filter. The K&N is ~$60. So I'll probably do just that. I dont want to bother with an intake until I go with something with more power than a jb+.

I did put the filter on car over the weekend. YEs it was thick and a little hard to put in. You do hear it more on the mid range. I did feel it made a little more power especially on the low end. IT seemed to lessen spool time. I took my friends out for a test drive and both said it has more pull than stock. Overall for 60 bucks not to bad. And it seems like a good filter.
