BMW 6 Month Contract Hire
Hi guys
Is there a company in the UK that hire's (contract hire) out BMW's for just 6 months? I'm 18 years old so a 6 month rental would probably be out of the question right? And also do companies include the insurance or will I have to get fully comp. And finally can you change the rims or do you have to keep them stock because its hired out? Thanks! (I posted this in the UK section also but doubt I will get any replies as most people are here in the Generals! Please no stupid comments) Last edited by BMW Fanatic; 08-02-2009 at 02:18 PM.. |

6-month rent fees are outrageous.
If you don't care about your credit, you're better off trying to finance it and let them repo it after 6 months. At least your payments for 6 months will be much cheaper than the rental fees. What do you plan on doing with it for six months? Why swap the wheels out if you're not going to keep it? |

If you plan on having a car for only 6 months my recommendation is that you buy a used one from 2006 or 2007. Would be somewhere around 20 to 30k Euros and you'll be able to sell it for the same amount in 6 months. That's your best and cheapest option. A guy I work with never keeps a car longer than 9 months and always sells for about what he bought it for.

Thanks for the replies guys but I am just looking for a company like this one HERE. But one that actually hire's BMW's out for 6 months, I dont want the burden of owning a car and I only need it for 6 months as a sort of semi-permanent move car then after another 6 months I will finally get my first E92, if you look at the link in my sig you'd notice I am in canada at the moment but not for long! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks |

Regardless of how you do this, you're going to waste a lot of money. Why do you NEED a BMW right this minute if you're 18? Wait the six months then buy your car?

I only stated my age because most companies wont let you rent until youre 21, I didn't tell my age so you guys could just chat a load of crap to me. If you don't like the rims then that's your opinion, but I didn't want the same BSS rims that everyone else has (not hating on BBS rims they are the sh*t) AND FINALLY is it your problem that Im going to waste money? Like really is it? And what is it to you that I "NEED" a BMW? I asked a simple question and you guys just made yourselves look stupid. Anyone..? |

*sigh*
My comment really wasn't intended to call you out on your age. My apologies if it came across that way. I just don't like seeing people get screwed or piss away money if there's a better option. That's all.

Well, you could always ask a dealer for an extremely short term lease... they MIGHT have programs for it Though the shortest lease term I have ever heard of it 12 months.... but it doesn't hurt to try. and you're not owning the car since when you lease, it's basically a long-term rental |

My comment comes from the fact that places that rent cars for 6 months + are generally geared toward corporations who have the ability to shit away money. Even then, they would generally have a longer contract and have a better price. Then theres the fact that you're too young to rent a car, coupled with the fact that you cant manage to figure this out on your own. If money wasn't an option you'd just outright buy and sell it later.

Check out autoeurope.com and kemwel.com. 6 months is about the longest any rental company will rent to you. I would just call them and work with them over the phone. Be sure to call both though because you can get them to compete with each other. Both are American companies that are actually "wholesalers" for European rental car companies like Sixt, Avis, Europecar, etc. Many of those companies have BMWs, but most likely it will be a 320i in the 3-series, or a 520i in the 5 series.
Look up an equipment leasing company. Most work out custom deals for companies on almost any type of equipment; trucks and cars included. They'll probably insist on it being a new car, and you'll be paying for all of the expected depreciation. It's going to be pricey... |

the checkerboard logo made be almost puke... this thread is full of contradictions. you want to rent a bmw for six months so you can buy a ur first e92 after that? so you want to rent an e90 or an e87 before buying e92? if money is not important as you indicated above, and u will buy a e92 in 6 months, why would you waste 6 months of rental fees? |

***sigh*** assumptions. For all we know this kid might be a fkn genius and at 18 hes a rocket scientist making $200k a year. If he wants to blow money for 6 months cuz hes doing contract work and his idiot company is probably giving him a hefty stipend for transportation so he wants to take advantage of it, get a bimmer and try to stick his pecker into as much British (Shepards Pie) as possible. Lets help him do it.

Sixt is your best bet I think. Call them and check availability on BMW models. They usually have some big motor alternatives available.
http://www.sixt.com/ <-- I tried it out and it seems they rent for 6 months. No BMW at the place where I checked (London Chelsey) but a C-class MB would fall around £6.000 for 6 months.
