Been Shopping for 255/35/18 90W Michelin PS2 - Dealers a waste of time

Well after 26K miles the rear tyres have given up and i have been shopping around today. Rang two dealers to get prices.

No1 said PS2 were "on back order" and could only offer Bridgestones at £295 each. As i have Michelins on the front not a lot of use.

No2 said they would ring me back with a price......and never did.

After a lot of phoning around i got an independant down to £225 each fitted. Is this a good deal?

Also how many miles do you get out of the rears? (fronts should be good for about 35K)

Rich - a dealer is the LAST PLACE I would think of trying for tyres.

I must make enquiries as to tyre costings - I have access to tyre wholesalers on trade terms. Same size tyres as yours so I'll do my best to keep you informed.

Tried Kwik Fit, ATS and all the usual suspects, none could get close to that price. Get them fitted tomorrow as the rears were down to 1mm in places

Sure i checked them recently.........

The Michelins do appear to wear much better than the others.

If they do them at a good price i am sure you make the £30 back, i got a full set of 4 when they had a 25% offer on. Not sure if its still on.

Or go with someone who is a member.

Elite Direct have 255/35/18 Bridgestone Runflats at £212.75 delivered UK mainland inc VAT, or £218.44 fitted inc VAT

The 255/35/18 Michelin PS2 ZP Runflats are £258.75 delivered or £264.44 fitted inc VAT
The 255/35/18 Michelin PS2 NON-runlats are £201.25 delivered or 206.94 fitted inc VAT

Are you sure the independent has quoted you for runflat Michelins, and not non-runflats ??

Thats is so good i don't think it can be for PS2 RFTs in that size, maybe they quoted you for standard tyres?? PS2 non runflats are about £210 ish in your size.

I use Event Tyres (based in manc but, fit all over the UK) they have consitently beat all others around here. http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/

Skilled mobile fitters who know how to fit runflats without ruining your rims (something ATS, Kwik fit etc could learn)

£246.74 inc vat fitted, balance & valve for your size. Check the above link for price lists on all sizes.

edit: sorry Tone, should have read you post first!!

255/35/18 94Y FK452 255351894YFK452 £ 95.51 £ 109.84 Remove

Order Amount = £ 313.74

Missed this thread yesterday.

Try Chapel Tyres in Wolverhampton. They are really great guys and I'm sure they will be able to get the tyres for you pretty quickly.

£225 fitted is a VERY good deal (so good I sort of have a feeling it might be from Chapel).

Think he got his best price from Chemix Autocentres who I have used in the past for van tyres and have offered great service and good prices.

Guys

The price of £225 from Chemix was for the Michelins and is definately run flats - I rang them back and checked it 3 times myself!!!

Being fitted this afternoon so we will see.

I did try Chapel Tyres as they repaired my punture before but their PC system was down and they could not give me a quote.
