HELP broke clip on vacuum line/hose

I was installing an AA BOV and as i was pulling the cloth vacuum line it broke along with the clip

What should I do???

that's why cutting a slit in it would be easier to pull of without breaking the brass piece. Good luck getting it fixed

It sounds like you don't need to replace the full hose, just stick your hand under the intake manifold and pull the other end off, and go to the dealer and get a replacement tee and hose or go to your local hardware store and look for a 1/4"? brass fitting in the same style and some hose. plug the hole with JB weld and tap a new brass fitting into the manifold. if you put some lube on the drill bit, and go really slow, you shouldnt get too much shit in your manifold.

or fork out 700 bucks (if you do it yourself) for a new manifold.

looks like the manifold is $480 or so from Tischer...I think I will get the whole manifold...and either try to DIY or take it to an indy shop

Anyone know where I can find a DIY for the intake manifold or another DIY that requires removing the intake manifold?

the nipple is a part of the manifold. once it breaks you need a whole new manifold. when you replace that, you need a new instake manifold gasket

that part is the worst part that can be broken because in order to fixed it, you need to buy a new manifold....I think the design of that nipple for the manifold is poor!

I agree...it was dumb for me to yank on it but come on that thing was made to break on contact

Same thing just happened to me while installing a charge pipe. Looks like the only way to fix it is to plug the hole and drill/tap a new fitting in place. Replacing the manifold wouldn't be a bad idea but it's a bit costly and the labor sucks.

That sucks. There's a local guy here in MA with a part out car. Won't help with the labor, but you'll get a break on the cost of the mani.

Yep just got a hold of him. I'm probably going to block the hole, tap a new 1/8th NPT brass fitting and use that. A few people PM'd me recommending to bring it to the dealer but to be honest I'd feel like a scumbag getting a new manifold under warranty when it's clearly my fault.

The part was poorly designed though, I hardly touched it and it snapped right off.

yeah just JBweld it, dont use the paste JBweld, get the original. Ive used it all over my m50 manifold on my e36. Then just do as described, get a brass fitting an NPT tap it. Simple and might cost all of $15.

as a hint, I'd put a thick coating of grease on the drill bit and the tap to catch shavings.

Here is an example when I had to helicoil my cyl 5 sparkplug hole. You have it much easier as the intake mani is plastic. The engine will chew it up and spit it out if you arent careful, the turbo's however wont be a fan ingesting plastic bits.

I personally leave a small length of vacuum hose few inches then cut it. Leave with a splitter to avoid this costly headache.

I actually replaced by whole manifold because I was worried about warranty...i still have the manifold with the broken clip on it if anyone want buy it for cheap :]

YEP just did this to my manifold as well. i glued the nipple back on and it works fine for the moment but im worried. most likely i will tap a brass nipple into the manifold but i just want to know what is this line for. it runs into the synapse bov. what would happen if i was driving and that hose broke off? thanks guys first post here
