Tips on getting oil cooler installed by dealer...
Hey guys
Well recently this summer I have been doing quite some driving and have really noticed my car heat up pretty bad. I went into limp mode twice...BTW the only mod my car has is the injen dci. I previously had the jb+ but have had all codes cleared up long ago. So about a month ago I spoke to a rep at a local dealer. I explained to him about my car being a 07 with sport package, but It didnt come with a oil cooler and my car has been having some heating problems. I also told him about the limp modes. He said he will most likely have the cooler installed. When I went to get the car, he told me everything was taken care of and I was in a hurry so I didnt notice. Like 2 days later I noticed there was no oil cooler installed ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I called him like wtf and he said it went into limp due to intake so no cooler was installed. Well now I noticed the same heating issues and am planning on going to another dealer. Any ideas on what I should say or whatnot...BTW i have pics of temp when it was pretty hot once.. |

GRR,
i hear ya that sucks man. always strip these cars before brining them to the dealer... this should be an example why the dealer will blame the alignment of the stars why your car is overheating and not add the cooler. im sure they wrote up on the ticket due to xyz... this would make it more difficult for you to approach bmw directly... just take it to another dealer with it removed and see what they can do. ppp

u shouldn't have taken it to the dealer w/ the intake installed. i'm sure the next dealer will have it on record that u had intake installed and another dealer denied installing the oil cooler due to the mod.
good luck

piss and moan as loud and as often as possible. also an empty or whole hearted threat of callin bmwna should do the trick as well. more than likely youll get it tho since youve had limp modes

I got my retrofit done with my aftermarket intake installed, and got no hassle. But I also wasn't getting it done because of high temps either. Overheating because of an intake is laughable though, I would try to get a better explanation out of them.
BTW, I never dealt with the dealer other than just to have the parts installed. If you are the original owner of the car, call up/email BMWNA and have them set it up for you. |

I know they are just plain retarted. I usually go to this other rep. I went to him with tune related codes, bmw dci, aftermarket hood, and he never gave me bs. He replaced the hpfp, and other warranty related issues without any problems. About the codes, I told him I dont know how they got there, they arent mine
![]() This was some other guy and he a a dbag. I figured id go to this other dealer in morristown nj. One of the guys there had a 335i himself, fully modded, catless, vishnu, intake etc. He said we have people coming with aftermarket turbos, supercharges, catless, and they NEVER EVER denied anyone warranty nor cancelled anyones warranty in the history of their dealership. Its just that this plave is like almost an hour from my place and I want to make sure I get it installed this time. I even spoke BMW NA and they said the dealer should do it. |

The way it worked for some, your given a reference number (from BMWNA) and then the dealer calls you about 2 days later to schedule the install date. It requires ordering about 2K$ parts and until the dealer has been notified to place the order for them and the parts are basically in route, the dealer won't call the owner.
There really does not to be ANY involvement from the dealer other than the scheduling the install date.
