tire pressure warning light?

hi, i just picked up my E90 335i for a few days, and thought it should be nice to cruise around with friends this morning.
in the middle of our trip, somehow the backroad became a gravel road, so all of us paid more caution and drove slow on it. (~15mph)
then at one point, my tire pressure warning light prompted, i have RFT.

i didn't check check it until 20 mins after when we got back on a regular pavement. no nails, and no damages on all tires and pressures were fine. so we head back to town and finally i decided to stop at a parking lot in a shopping complex and check the pressure again. nothing changed, front still stays at ~33psi, rear ~39psi.

so one friend suggested to reset the monitoring system, and drive on freeway and see something changes again. it's been fine after ~5 miles of highway driving without any more low pressure warning.

does anyone had the symptom of this being an error from the low pressure warning? tire pressures are fine and up to the spec the whole time.

if all of your PSI are fine, the best thing would be to leave it over night and check again, if all checks out fine i would just reset the TPMS and forget it ever happend. shouldnt be a big problem. on a road trip my TPMS always goes off once or twice. probably the atmosphere pressure.

If the pressure changes a bit then the system will alert. If pressure is fine you should simply reset. The system is alarming because of the change, likely the difference in surface tension changed the heat level and thus the tire pressure a bit. The general rule of thumb is if the pressures are ok just do the reset. I have learned this from experience.

Agreed with the above posts. This can also happen on cold mornings.

thank you for the quick responses guys!!! so i guess the change of driving from pavement to gravel made that happened, i assumed. i'll keep an eye on the pressure tonight and see if any pressure changes by then.

now do you guys run stock pressure? or usually put 2 psi above stock recommended?

Stock, don't see any reason to try anything else. I also check it every few weeks manually.

I agree with the above posts. However, I had a tire deflation that was a head scratcher. It turned out to be a loose valve stem, check the torque on those things!
