AWD, DSC, ABS, and EMERG EBV
AWD, DSC, ABS, and EMERG EBV
Yes, they all failed at once. I'm getting this error in iDrive on my E92 335xi. After googling for the error I only found a couple of hits for E60s that have had similar problems. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho....php?p=4208966 http://forums.5series.net/index.php?...ic=79434&st=15 In those cases the sunroof drain system clogged up, causing a water buildup that shorted or caused corrosion in a couple of vital circuits located underneath the passenger seat. In my case I'm also hearing a clicking/grinding noise coming from about one foot behind the passenger side wheel well which makes me think it's not a water buildup issue, but something mechanical. Any ideas? Has anyone accidentally the whole drivetrain? |

I had the exact same failure only after 8km (abs, dsc, 4x4...).
I took the car to service and they replaced the abs-censors, dsc ecu and finally the wheel bearing or something from the rear right wheel. That seem to have worked as I have had zero problems since. I have also read from the forum that it might be the media converter which causes these problems. |

has the battery been disconnected? All those warning will pop up after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. A full right to left sweep with the steering wheel will clear them, or a few drive cycles.

No, battery was never disconnected. Left to right lock turn didn't help. I brought the car in for service today, so hopefully I'll find out what's wrong soon enough.

I am going through the same thing. At first they said it was the battery, which is silly. I insisted they look at it again and they ended up sending the data to BMW who told them to change a wheel bearing and ABS sensor. Not sure which wheel because I won't pick it up till tomarrow.

Got this error in the morning on the way to work while stopped at a red light on an incline. When I started driving again (when the light turned green), it was having trouble (loss of power and jerkinesss). At the next startup, the error was gone but the "Service Engine Soon" light stayed on. The power loss and jerkiness were no longer aparent. I started it up and drove it around a few more times and by lunchtime there was no trace left of the error.

I've currently got the errors as well. Car still seems to drive fine, but I have slammed on brakes to check ABS and wheels lock up, so I know that ABS is turned off. I don't know if system is damaged, but I don't hear any grinding or clunking. I did run BT (Bavarian Technic) tool on it and it comes up as code 5F39 (IIRC), which says an error on transfer case, clutch position unknown. I've tried searching the net for that error code and can't find anything. Any advice?

Same problem
i recently had the same issue come up out of surprise. dealership said it was software issue and that nothing was wrong with the car. Thou it did take them 4 days to load up the software as the car kept on crashing and would not accept the software.

I would guess you people need a new battery if this happens often. When my battery died, I got all of these errors. I cleared them, charged up the battery again and haven't gotten them since.

BTW, an update on my errors of 4x4, DSC, ABS, no cruise, etc. Updated my software using SSS and all errors when away and now everything works fine. Ran car prior to re-programming using DIS (another diagnostic software program), it said VTG (transfer case) was not coded. So, I coded (actually updated all the modules ) using SSS and the module got coded and all is good now. So, if you have these errors, you can code yourself (kind of difficult to do and find all the software and set up) or take it to a dealer for an update. Hope this helps!

Just got this error yesterday. Car drives fine. Appt. scheduled for next Tuesday.
It's too bad. I was hoping to cruise the car down to Newport this weekend. Anyone think I should take the wife's whip instead? Last edited by AWD Addict; 06-13-2011 at 02:53 PM.. |

Well, I made it back from RI without any trouble. AWD is definitely off. I had some good rear wheels spin I'm not accustomed to when it was raining.
I'll report back once the dealership diagnoses tomorrow. |

looking familiar guys? just came up today. kinda paranoid about it too. out of warranty. the malfunction comes up after a long stop along with a little knocking noise from the front right wheel. i'm hoping its not something too big. |
