FS: iPOD/USB/Audio factory Module -enables SA 6FL option
Out of an 09 E90 LCI. Price dropped to $100 shipped Folks, this is for the module only and not the full retrofit kit. The retrofit kit needs to be purchased from BMW. The BMW retrofit kit does not include the module which is the brains of the system and lists for over $400. It is only the module that I sell in this thread. So in order to enable the 6FL option, you will need the retrofit kit and the module. Attached, is the retrofit kit instructions. No longer for sale. Last edited by jimk; 10-16-2009 at 07:06 PM.. is this the kit that lets you control an ipod through the factory idrive? my car doesn't have the usb/audio jack. works for e92?

Yes, it should. The part number of the module is 84109200822. You should call a dealer, give them the retrofit guide pdf above, tell them you have the module and ask them what the price would be to retrofit and code your vehicle.

ok i spoke to "my guy" at the dealer. he said that hes sure he can install the kit but he isnt sure if it can be programmed to work. what im wondering is how can 6FL from a new iDrive car work in my older iDrive car? I REALLY REALLY want this but i cant get a definate answer on whether it can be done. im going to send Chino a PM and ask for his input.

only $200 bucks? is that just for the module or does the harness come with it? if bmw released installation instructions, it should work. i just think $200 is really really cheap if it is for the whole retrofit....

the install instructions are in the pdf attached above. i forwarded them to my guy at BMW and he said the install was totally doable but he wasnt sure about the programming aspect. he also said that if he tried to program it and it didnt work he would have to re=-program the entire back to stock from scratch.

I can't speak on behalf of the dealer but programming is programming. If the vehicle can be programmed from the factory for this option, there shouldn't be an issue programming it at the dealer. They will need to add a new VO (Vehicle Option) first to enable 6FL support and then add the proper programming. They should call the BMW technical Hot Line to confirm the right programming procedure if they don't know how.

So I just forwarded the .pdf to my dealership and they told me that this is "Not available for US market". Can anyone else confirm or deny?
I really wanted to get this done, but not if the dealership wont install it. |
