can this offset work..?

im goin with :

8.5 x 19" 5x120 offset 38
9.5 x 19" 5x120 offset 40
235/35/19 front and a 265/30/19 rear.

but mike at modsbargain told me i should go with (35 offset front) and 19x9.5 (40 offset) rear

is the 38 gonna to too much for me? or can these work? i am lowered with eibach pro-kit, am i gonna need to roll fenders? thank you so much

38 will be tucked in more, it should be fine. you may want a 5 or 10mm spacer to push it out a little, but functionally, it'll be ok. you wont be rubbing on the fender with a high offset.

if its really high, you might hit the strut, but 38/40 shouldnt be a problem. the rears will look tucked.

i believe i'm running 19X8.5 ET 40 up front and 19X9.5 ET33 in the rear.

nope, the lower the offset, the further it sticks out.

in the forum there's a calculator that will tell you what effect the offset will have on the rim's location in the well.

ex, i had a set of ET30 rims. i added a set of 15mm spacers, to give me an effective offset of ET15. i was rubbing a little on my outer fender, but had lots more space on the inside where the strut was.

i'm not 100% sure of the terminology, but i think our offsets are actually negative, the higher the number, the more set in they are, the lower, the further out they stick.... but regardless, an ET40 rim will be inset more than an ET30 rim.

Its not necessarily a negative number, but the lower the number the further it will sit away from the hub.

Generally for a E90/92, a direct bolt-on fitment would be anywhere from a 8.5 +35-40 front with a 235 tire and a 9.5 +30-35 rear with a 265/275 tire. With the offsets, widths, and tire sizes you've provided you should not have any kind of problems fitting them at all unless you are excessively lowered.

ET38 will be just fine on the front - the difference with the ET35 - is just going to be that the 35mm is going to sit 3mm further outward which will get it more flush to the fender basically sit better. The 3mm is not a whole lot (check on a ruler if you got one around) but for certain eyes it is noticeable.

Here is a picture that might help with understanding offset (courtesy of Tirerack).

19x9.5 +40 is going to be sunken in on an e90 or e92

That's an E46 offset

Fender rolling definitely will not be needed
