thats what my roomate was quoted to have the ipod interfaced installed on his 06 325, such a rip off, plus the guy told us he couldn;t install it for a few more weeks since the software needed to program the car wasn't out yet

i called my CA today and asked about it, he said it's $395 installed. i have the e92 on order, so i dunno if that would make any difference than bringing in your current car to install.

I think the lack of consistency in pricing is ridiculous. Looks like there is over a $100 spread in what stealers are charging for the parts. Seems too high for me...

I inquired about it to the BMW dealership at downtown Toronto where I bought my e90 and was told $800CAD. The sales guy thought that seemed odd because he had sold one for an X3 for way less. He checked and came back and said for some reason the installation and what needs to be done is more complicated on the new e90 hence $800CAD. I may try another dealer, but I suspect I'll get the same quote.

I'm not bothered anymore, I leave my iPod in the armrest and dangle the wired remote for the iPod out and close the armrest so the remote ends up just above the iDrive knob and know I can play, pause and skip forward and back without getting the iPod out. Since the remote is small and the buttons are physical I can do it all by touch and not take my eyes of the road.

Is there an audible difference in sound quality in directly integrating the IPOD vs. the aux. connection?

I want to see your set up when you get it done Kevin.

The ipod link for my AVIC-D1 was only $75.......
the thought of $650 is crazy.

The only problem with going aux set up is NO control via the radio

....and the problem with the adapter is control only through the radio or steering wheel.

I'm not fussy about what I'm listening to and passengers love holding the ipod in their hands and choosing what to listen to. I'm really glad I learned about the monster cable solution from the people on this forum. $60 and actually suits my needs more. 600$ is insane. Anything over $200 is rediculous in my opinion.

I heard a european reviewer state. Bmw has mastered the art of ripping you off. The only thing which comes standard on this cars is the wind screen and the air inside.

That being said, when nothing compares to you, you can afford to charge a premium.

LOL... for $60, I think I can adjust my habits.
Actually, now that I think about it...
most of the time, I tend to start a playlist & let it run.

I put a new Alpine head unit in my sons Subaru for $350 that came with the Ipod Adaptor. ITs grate to have it charging and controlled thu the head unit.

Considering Satilite will be my primary listening device I think 600 for the integration is crazy. I'd pay a few hundred.

For the cost of integreation I can buy two 30gig Ipod videos is not in line.

Be patient, someone will figure it out!

I'd love to get this, but these prices are absurd. $300 Installed would be one thing, but $500...$600 is just absurd. The integration for the 3 series should have been better designed from the factory.

Some guy at www.e60.net put it in his 5 series himself in like 20 minutes. He unplugged the 6 disc changer and plugged in the interface. He didn't even need recoding.

With the 3 series they have to take half the friggin dash apart. All the prewiring from behind the Idrive screen or factory radio should be in place from the factory with a wire already in the glove box.

Another example of a bad BMW policy with dealer installed options. The dealer can and does charge whatever they want. This, and other things like the alarm, should be factory option with what would be more reasonable (in BMW terms) costs.
