Hey guy,

I was wondering if someone can help me out with using the clay bar, How often can you use it? last time I used it was 2 months ago when i washed and waxed my car. The thing is i havent washed and waxed it since and now its really dirty, can i wax it again? any advise is appreciated!

The car sits in the garage 5 days a week and used as a weekend car, however in the course of 2 months the wheels are really dirty and theres a lot of dust and dirt on the car itself...

Well, as for the clay bar, I believe that unless you are going to do some machine polishing, you don't need to do it more than once a year. I'll let a pro correct me if wrong.

Waxing you can do any time as long as the car is clean. It doesn't need to be done too often depending on the wax, but it doesn't hurt to put a new coat on if in doubt (worst case, you waste a little wax I guess).

If it's really dusty and dirty, read about the "two bucket method" for hand washing.

I would wash, dry, and put a ziploc bag on my hand and lightly run my fingers over the paint to see if you need to clay again. You can wax again if you want. The existing wax should last you about another month but more wax won't hurt, IMO.

a) i suspect you need to wash you car.

b) you can never clay too much. you say your car has lots of dust and dirt, threrefore it needs to be washed and clayed before you apply wax on it.

c) your wheels need to be scrubbed with a wheel brush and car soap.

d) take pics, and show us the results.

It also depends on the type of clay used. Some clay is aggressive and induces micro-marring. If you are using a mild clay, you can clay whenever you feel the need to. I usually put my hand in a plastic bag and run it over my paint. If I feel that it is not smooth, I will clay.

1. always claybar a car before waxing,polishing etc.

never say no to claybar your car.Without you even knowing crap gets imbedded in your paint .Get a ziploc bag put your hand inside it place your hand on a cool part of the car and run your hand across the surface.If you could feels bumps touching your hand you simply need to clay the car .No pics needed

Not a pro but I agree with jon335i. It couldn't hurt to clay the car before adding more wax. Actually, it's probably a better practice then not. When adding another coat of wax, I like to clay the lower parts of the car. They seem to get the most build up of contaminates.

GL and keep up with some regular maintenance washes!
