Wheelmax CSL Replicas Cracked .. Advice Needed

I purchased a set of AZA Z-15s from wheelmax about 6 months ago - 19x8.5 & 19.9.5. After a month I had to replace the RT FT due to a pretty bad bend.

Yesterday morning I noticed the RT RR is really low on air. I take it to the pump and fill it up. Drive about 60 miles to a client and then the car sits for about 5 hours. When I get out the tire is almost flat again.

I take it to the nearest shop. Low and behold there is a hair line fracture on the inside of the rim about 1 inch long. So this morning I put all 4 oem wheels back on until I figure out what to do. I inspect the other 3 very closely only to find 2 more have the same types of cracks!

I can't stand the way the car looks with the oem wheels. I miss my CSLs!!

Are the velocity motoring ones sold on **********s a better quality than the AZAs? Do I buy the Non M3 or M3 offset? I'd like them obviously to match as closely as possible to the AZAs.

ALSO - When I was taking one of the rear tires off I noticed 2 of the bolts had sheered off while still threaded in. I had to twist the remaining bits around with a screw driver to get them out. These are the extended bolts purchased from rogue engineering to match with their 10mm spacers. This was also one of the wheels which had a crack.

Are these just garbage wheels or is my driving style simply not right for a set of 19s? Whatever the case I need to get a set of 19" CSLs back on the car asap and I want quality wheels. Advice needed.

Thanks!

sounds like crap wheels, even if they look great. regarding velocity, i would shoot them an email and ask them where it is made. I would ask the same to wheelmax. If it is made in the same country, chances are it could be the same factory so then it would not be worth it to get them...

you can consider getting some ASA's for reasonably prices, I think Hunter was selling some for cheap.

i havent heard of any cracked velocity csl rims yet..lets hope its of better quality
k update, i did a little more research and here's what i found out:
csl reps by AZA and Velocity are different, i dunno if they're produced in the same country or not though. but the differences are in price (velocity is more expensive) and quality (some people in e46fanatics said that AZA csl reps isnt as strong as velocity)
hope this helps

If you want quality, you should go OEM.

OEM CSL's are about $1,600 + shipping from www.bmwwheels.com.

Why risk cracking your rims again with replicas after what you just went through. Open your wallet and spend some $$$.

Aren't the "OEM" CSL's that bmwwheels.com sells just oem branded cast wheels anyway? I know you're not buying the real m3 csl forged wheels for just $400 a wheel.

If it's cast, it's not going to be any better than the replica.

See above ... oem = cast = not that strong. Replicas can sometimes be pretty shady workmanship, but just because it's got an OEM label on it doesn't always make it better.

I've seen plenty of cracked OEM wheels too.

Ended up ordering a set of the velocitys. They are made in different countries, and from what I read it appears people have no problems with them.

Keepin my fingers crossed ..

Thanks for the help guys

OEM means "Original Equipment Manufacturer". It basically means that the OEM wheels are made by a manufacturer that makes and supplies original BMW wheels.

Thus, I think the OEM wheels are made to the exact same specifications to the BMW wheels and should be identical in quality.

Even if they are cast OEM wheels are much better than replica.

so I got my set of velocity's today and dropped the old rims/tires and new rims off at the tire shop. They called to tell me they could net get the old Hankook Ventus K104's off the rear rims and that they must have been stretched?

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

In any case I said f&*! it and just bought 4 new Toyo Proxes T1Rs.

Anyone looking to buy a 19" staggered set of Hankook Ventus k104's? Only 10k miles .. if you can help me get the rears off the rims.

I did too for my 199 rims. How much did you pay for the set?
