I have the 19" optional M wheels and I changed last week to non run flat (although there was still a lot of tread on, I was just fed up) They are a dream! The poltering on bad roads is really a lot less.
I have the Good year F1 assymetric on. Good grip, very silent, comfortable, and in the wet in a different leage then the Run flat Bridgestone! I feel some light vibrations though at 65 mph. This is something I read before about the GoodYear, have to check.

I did the swap only a week after taking delivery. I swapped the factory 17" wheels for non-staggered 18x8.5" rims. Tyres are Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2 235/40/18 on each corner. I think these tyres are pretty good, the grip is excellent, they are reasonably priced and I have no complaints with them. The main problem with the run-flats is they tend to skip over poor surfaces. The runflats are so heavy - I feel there may be a slight performance benefit by reducing the rotating mass. I keep 40PSI in these tyres so it is still a firm ride, but it is still an improvement over than the run-flats.

i swapped my brigestone RE050 runflats for a set of Hankook Ventus S1Evo (i think). I would never go back to runflats. Ive got a E92 325i M-sport with the 19" 225M wheels. The tyres in my opinion grip better, are more comfortable especially over rough roads. I did however feel that the turn in was not as crisp however i just added a few psi until i found what suits me perfect. I'm sure if you change them over to non-run flats you won't be disappointed

Sorry to dig up an old thread, I'm thinking about making the change (runflats to ordinary), the only concern I have is will this somehow cause the warning light to appear?

Thanks in advance.

To avoid the warning light when you change the tyres, you will need to re-initialise the TMPS system in the car. My tyre shop did this for me using some menu option on the dashboard. I am pretty sure it is in the user manual too. Australian delivered cars use the "Indirect TPMS" which uses the ABS system to detect any difference in rolling diameters of the wheels, so it avoids the need for pressure sensors on the wheels.

I have a 2008 E90 and i changed mine to Kumoh KU31's tyres a cheap $279 each i paid at KTAS and they are handling great. I have not had a wheel slip or steering problem since i installed them, The car is silent again (sounded like i was driving a 4WD when on run flats) so all in all its been a great change for me. Doesnt seem to affect the M-sport suspention either.

any idea if changing from original runflats to normal tyres would affect insurance claims? Would it have to be declared to the insurance company?
