OK had it code scanned and coming up with rear brake pad wear indicator faulty, had a visual look and seems ok- anyone had this problem? If you look on the dashboard for the rear disc pads it says miles---------- so it looks like the sensor for the brake pads has got a fault.
Looks like will have to go to dealer. |

update
OK after doing some research on here and net, it would seem that when I tried to manually reset the brake pad wear indicator-new pads fitted by supplying dealer before I collected car (it was down to 9000 miles) I have tripped this warning light into action ( red car on lift and parking brake warning light on)
What I can't understand is why the sensor needs repalacing.....it has no wear on it, the pads were changed before the sensor hit the brake disc. ? Is this a money spinning thing for BMW or is it a faulty sensor??? Oh dear, the front brake pads indicator is also showing 9000 miles. Will this need a new wear indicator as well???? ![]() ![]() Anyone confirm this for me before I contact supplying garage to complain.??? Thanks |

I just replaced my rear sensor for the same reason. It cost $20 at Advanced auto for the part and about 1 hr of my time to replace it.

Try this: 1. with engine running 2. press and hold odometer 3. service light will appear (yellow triangle) 4. while still pressing odometer press the BC button on the turn signal stalk 5. navigate to desired reset function such as brakes by pressing the BC button 6. to reset, press and hold BC button 7. a rotating hand of a clock will appear 8. press BC button again and a check mark in a box will appear 9. turn off/on engine to confirm that indicator light has been reset. If it wont work, at step 6 try a double press instead of holding it. Steve.

Just as a general rule of thumb, you should always replace the wear sensor with every brake job. They're cheap, easy to change, and help ensure you won't have to rip the brakes apart again when you get an error a week after your brake job, lol

I had the same code last week and it was the brakes. So I changed the brakes, rotors and the sensors. The code went away by itself when I changed the brakes. I brought my kit on eBay from Bavarian autosport. My car is the e90 330I. Hope this helps someone.
