With this crazy a$$ weather we have been having this summer and there calling for a bad winter. Are you folks planning to put your snow wheels/rims/tires on earlier than normal? I no I might.

probably not. Waited too long last year and got caught at work when that storm hit in early December, but I still think if you have them on by November's end, you should be good. Probably before Thanksgiving weekend if you're traveling far for that.

The optimal time to put on your winters isn't when the 1st snow hits, its actually when the temp starts to fall below 40-45 degrees (the rubber compound on regular tires stiffens up below 45 deg and you lose lots of traction and stopping power due to the hardened material). On average this usually happens in early to mid November but with it already dipping into the 30's as the overnight lows (it was 36 last night here in Madison) we might see the winter cold set in permanently as early as October 1st.
