I just bought a used 335i and plan to use it as a daily driver with some autox on r-comps (I plan to use my takeoffs from my Shelby). Has anyone installed and autocrossed the race springs that drop the car 2.0 in the front and 1.5 in the rear?

I am wondering if there is enough spring to hold the car off of the tires.

are you planning on using ZSP struts? I would probably grab some coils if I were you, especially if you plan to autox. HR Sport/Koni Yellow combo seems to be a cheaper alternative with adequate handling capabilities while maintaining daily driveability. I'm not sure about Race, but I do know that you def need new struts to autox effectively with HR Race springs.

The car is going to be a daily driver for the most part. I have a 2007 shelby that has won one of the pro-solo tour stops as a primary autox car:

My goals for the 335i are to lower it and make up for the spring rates that were for runflats not high performance street tires (softer sidewall).

I settled on the H&R race springs w/ Koni FSD shocks. Ride is very good considering how stiff the springs are. No rubbing issues either.

The springs combined with the aftermarket sways really have the car handling as if it were on rails.

H&R Sports are a good upgrade if you are DDing the car and want something stiffer yet comfortable. I do suggest replacing the shocks as well so you do not wear them prematurely. Your best option would be the H&R Cup Kit which pairs H&R Springs and Shocks together for a complete setup.

I had a totally different expectation of autocross including dirt and bumps and so on, before I looked at the links. Love the Cobra sound. It stays rather flat too. Must be fun to drive.

There are a few threads that include lists of several types of suspension with there characteristics on E90Post.

I am obviously no expert, but if I were you and having seen the links, I would start off with:
1) LSD f.i. Quaife.
2) Different ARB's (swaybars), f.i. Hartge.
3) Springs (they seem less important than the LSD and ARB's for autocross given the smooth tarmac)

This is going to be a daily driver that I will run ever now and then. The r-comp takeoffs from the Shelby will go on the 335i. The thing about running r-comps on a completely stock car is you run the risk of body roll getting all the way to the tire. The tire will get some damage but the car can too. I have seen r-comp on stock setups bend fenders. This is what I would like to avoid.

So, my thought is just some sport springs with the ~1.2 inch drop. Anyone know what the stock spring rates are on the 335 sport? What are the spring rates on a set of the H & R sport springs?

I got a H&R Touring cup kit, which comes with sports springs. I love the drop but I got to say that the car is freaking LOW at this point. I'm glad that I did not go with race springs or else I'd never be able to park in a driveway. If your car will be a daily driver than I would stay away from race springs if I were you.

The Sports will probably be a bit more suited for a daily driver, but the Race may work just fine if you are used to / ok with a fairly firm ride.

The H&R's combined with the Koni Yellow shocks offer a great setup:
