Adding rear sunshades to my 325i

Hello everyone,

This is what I want to do... I have an '06 325i, and I want to add rear and side sunshades. I want it to be exactly like I had ordered it from the factory. Has anyone done this? If so, what was involved, and does anyone have the part numbers I need to do the install?

THANKS!

it will be VERY expensive

unless you just want to have the manual sunshade, even then, it's price for that alone

For the rear side shades you would need new door panels. The cost would be too prohibitive IMHO.

The rear sunblind is also pricey: You would also need a different parcel shelf.

They may have a manual blind as well for the rear window. I know they make one for the 6 series and it is only around $50. I don't know if it would work out for the 325i though.

Just have the windows tinted. That will make a big difference. I have both. The shades compliment the tint but just the tint alone works well too.

i am doing this mod right now. i just ordered new rear door panels from a junk yard in PA i think it was. 300 for both shipped. both in perfect condition just now handles or trim, but i will obviously use the ones in the car now. the panels have the shades, and hes sending me the clips off of the window frame, as well as the mini shade for the side window and clip. now i just have to focus on getting the power rear one.

It's shitty man.. If I had only known it was this big of a deal, I would have held out for one with it already installed.... Oh well, that's how you learn I guess..

Realoem.com shows that as being the big rear shade, do you know if they make a manual side window shade that's not part of the built-in from the factory sunshades?

I have the manual side window shades and also installed the manual one for the rear window. That´s what it looks like. I made the mistake not getting the shades when I bought the car.

Hey Mikka, if you don't mind me asking, how much did the whole thing cost you? Did you install them yourself? If so, how difficult was it?

It was kind of expensive, that is the reason why I should have ordered my car with the original ones. Anyway, I paid for the sides roughly $100, the rear sunshade was about $120. The sides are very easy to install, took less than 5 minutes. The rear sunshade was installed by my BMW dealership. You have to remove the rear seat, and have to do drilling. I didn’t want to do that myself, didn’t want to screw something up. They took $170 for the installation.
I ordered the pieces over e-bay Germany, but I am 100% sure you can order them also at crown-auto.

Hey Mikka, Do the shades make any noise? Like rattling when you go over a bump or anything?

The retrofit kit for the electric rear sunblind on an E92 has not yet been released by BMW - it should be available in about a month to two months. Cost will be around US$420 plus the labour and coding to fit it. Side blinds are NOT available for the E92, either as a retrofit or as standard.
