Go with the VMRs, I like the spoke design and they have an excellent reputation for quality and strength on these forums. You cannot go wrong with VMR IMO- we've carried them for 4 years for a reason.

VT996 wheels are low pressure cast, resulting in great structural strength and weight saving (25.1 and 25.8 lbs) at the same time. The finish is very durable as well. You won't be disapointed!

Though our E92 M3 is a coupe, it's still sparking graphite, and to be honest, darker wheels look excellent on this car. Currently we've got 9.5" Fronts and 10" rears on the Matte Black CSLs:

But, we always liked the look of the V710s as well, which you're looking at:

VMR reputation is of soft wheels and softer paint. Wheels bent easily and the paint chips within weeks. How can you say their reputation is quality and strength?

I would go with the VT996 for pure quality reasons.

I've got the VT996 on my car and two sets of VMR's in my garage. Honestly, the finish on the VT's is 10X better. My VMR's are full of spots where the paint flaked off after a small chip. Worse any contact with edge of the lug hole results in chunks of finish coming off.

I've had oem, Morr, Rota wheels on my car also. None exhibited the characteristics BOTH my VMR sets have paint wise.

I find that hard to believe given the number of VMR wheels supplied by us, EAS, **********s and several other reputable vendors on this forum. If we were having such feedback, we'd drop the line. Never encountered this in 4+ years of carrying the line. Are you basing your suggestions on 1 or 2 posts or sales history and customer feedback?

Why does this nick come out of retirement only when VMR is mentioned?

because is sickening the way you lie to your customers. my VB3s were soft and the paint chipped so easy i was scared to even pressure wash the wheels. with so many other vendors and wheels now available there is no need to buy an inferior product. tell that to your customers

*sigh* You will find that EAS, **********s, Jlevi SW, PYSpeed among others all support and carry VMR wheels for a reason. We've been with Peter since he first introduced them at Bimmerfest 2004...or was it 2003? We have sat down with Peter to better understand what goes into the production and manufacturing of these wheels and I know Tom@EAS has visited the factory where these wheels are produced so he can vouch for the quality. I seriously doubt Velocity would have had 1/8th the success and following they have had over the years if their wheels were substandard.

I received your PM and I will not respond or conform to threats. Clearly you are a supporter of Alufelgen which is great. They make an awesome wheel from what I hear. However, as a vendor, we choose to support brands we have experience with and believe in. With that, we will present our products for what they are and provide real feedback on the quality and manufacturing of the brand. We do not play games, we do not bash other products, there is no need for those kinds of antics. If you wish to bash a competitor's product, that is your prerogative but is not something that we will participate in.

read the other responses on this thread. others customers speak the same, not only me. you cannot take it as a personal attack. customer do have the liberty of posting their feedback too, not only the vendors.

Definitely, this is what keeps vendors and manufacturers honest. I support customer feedback, we use this to perfect everything from product issues to website and email problems. However, basing your assessment of a manufacturer's quality on one order is blind. I have had a faulty Dell before, they took care of the problem under warranty. Does this mean that all Dell computers are crap? I don't think so given they are a top computer manufacturer based on sales. That was one of 12 Dell computers I've owned. Didn't sway my opinion. I was upset, they fixed it, I moved on and understood it to be one of one million computers they sell. It was clearly an anomaly and not something I hold against Dell because they addressed the problem promptly.

My point is, it's unfair to write off a manufacturer entirely based on your experience. I understand if you don't want to purchase from them again, but given the support this community offers for VMR, you will find that your experience is isolated.

Look at it from a vendor standpoint. Does it behoove me to sell a customer a wheel that I know is crap quality? Not really. You need to see the lifetime value of a customer beyond that initial sale. Sure I could hawk a cheap wheel, make a quick buck and move on. What would that do to our reputation and our future relationship with that customer if their wheel chipped? Not good. This is where forums come in, members make sure that we are continually providing support for solid products which goes both ways in terms of positive and negative feedback.

How do you explain the fact that VMRs are one of the top selling brands on this site? I don't think it's because their wheels chip, bend and break. It's because it's a solid wheel, has great quality and is well priced. People base their decisions on these factors as well as forum feedback and reputation. The fact that I go through the Photo forum and see multiple posts about people who just received their VMR wheels reinforces my point.
