V2 is suppose to have better fitment

And AR (from what I've read..) has best fitment, so I'm assuming RR's fitment isn't as good

otherwise I can't give much input lol

Yes. AR is high quality. They use magnaflow hi-flow cats. They do not throw any codes or SES lights. I would highly recommend them. I was just an extra pair of hands during the install, but I got to see every step up close and they fit perfectly.

I know there is a revision 1 and 2 on the non catted versions, buy am not sure if they did the same thing with the catted versions. Are you looking into buying a new you used set?

RR had fitment issues and had to revise thier design. That has not been the only problem with RR products for the 335. They also have had to have multiple improvements to their oil catch can due to leaking.

If you are looking at used RR downpipes I would be hesitant myself. There were plenty of threads mentioning these problems.

Apparently Jlevi took over customer service for RR at one point. See this thread to get an idea for when they may have switched over to V2 of their Downpipes. PM Jlevi to see if they have a more definitive date on when the change happend:

Boxter:

You might want to PM ThorsHammer for his input. He has/had the RR catted dps and ended up having to install an O2 sim to clear a CEL that showed up a couple of weeks after install.

I have the AR Design catted pipes & for whatever reason also had the CEL a couple of weeks after install. The O2 sim removed the CEL and both of our cars run great.

Not much in common with our cars since he has the JB3 & an '09 model whereas I have the Dinan ECU flash & an '08 model.

Noone has been able to give either of us a reasonably educated reason why we had this happen. Apparently there are a handful of us on the forum though.

The codes being thrown were directly related to "catalytic converter defficiency, L/R banks".

seems all catted aftermarket downpipes will throw codes especially on high boost maps. Just get catless and o2 sims for best flow and performance.

This is bad news. Why would I pay several hundred dollars more for fatted DPs when I'll need the sim anyway?

So far, we have only had 2 cars that have needed a sim - and both are on Dinan. I am fairly sure it is a Dinan specific issue. Other than that, we have had ZERO issues.

Well, these codes even on AR DP's concerned me as well. I also had a look into the CP-E downpipes.

At the end I decided to get High-flow metal-cats into OEM DP's. This is by far the most expensive option, but is proved for quite some cars in Switzerland. I'm not expecting power gains ( probably a few ) but like to get the engine-flow according to my tune. IMO the OEM DP's are the biggest bottleneck here.

As I write the metal-cats are welded into brand-new OEM DP's. They will be installed on my car on Friday this week ( core exchange ) in case everything works well. I'll let you know about the results.

AFAIK, PROcede users not throwing codes cannot be counted, the PROcede is programmed to take care about O2 issues.

Cheers,
Eugen

I live in Switzerland as well and am looking for catted downpipes as well. I would be interested in your experience (and cost) of the solution you chose?

Thanks!

i have installed revision 2 rr catless pipes and the upper bungs for the o2 sensors werent in the right spot and it made it very tricky to position them in a way that the sensors didnt touch each other and also so the pipes didnt lay against the heat shield or each other, ar design dp's fit as good or better then factory, never had a problem with them at all

Daehler, Belp. Costs are CHF 2800 including install. Daehler uses HJS catalysts which are quite expensive and high quality. You can get their 335i ECU flash as well ( based on Noelle / Evotech ). The car is running perfect. Homologated.
