PnP Interior LED Light "Kit"
I got a lot of request about my interior LED setup so I decided to just post it here so I can just direct people to for reference.
Disclaimer: Please don't PM me about whether I can get you the kit or not. I don't sell a complete setup. I am also not affiliated with any of the website mentioned on this thread. I'm merely trying to help the community out by posting the newest and latest LED lights for our cars. These are GUARANTEED to be better and brighter than any other "kits" that you can find from any vendor on Bimmerpost. This represents 2 full years of trying and testing a number of bulbs in the market to find the brightest and best LEDs for our cars. I'm only doing it out of my passion as a BMW enthusiast. I would like to thank Shinchan from Boston, MA for pioneering using LEDs in the interior of the E9X. First of all, here's a list for all the E9X interior bulbs Front vanity mirrors (both driver and passenger side): 42mm festoon Front footwell lights (both driver and passenger side): T10/168/194 wedge Front under the door puddle lights (both driver and passenger side): T10/168/194 wedge Glove box: 37mm festoon Map lights (both front and rear dome): T10/168/194 wedge Center dome lights (both front and rear dome): T10/168/194 wedge Rear footwell lights, only for E92/3 (both driver and passenger side): T5/74 wedge Trunk: 42mm festoon What I recommend for replacement as of 9/27/2009: Front vanity mirrors: Festoon Super Flux 6 LED Light 1 3/4 Inches / 42 mm http://www.ledlight.com/festoon-supe...hes-42-mm.aspx Unit(s) required: 2 Front footwell lights / Front under the door puddle lights Replacement OEM light housings (2 puddles and driver side footwell): 63 31 6 961 999 Unit(s) required: 3 Side Firing Super Flux 6 LED Light T10 Wedge (0 degree offset) http://www.ledlight.com/t10-wedge-si...led-light.aspx Glove box: Festoon Super Flux 6 LED Light 1 1/2 Inches / 36 mm http://www.ledlight.com/festoon-supe...hes-36-mm.aspx Unit(s) required: 1 Map lights (both front and rear dome): T10 / 168 / 194 side firing SMD with Canbus technology http://www.ledlight.com/t10-wedge-50...z-can-bus.aspx Unit(s) required: 4 pieces Center dome lights (both front and rear dome): BavAuto LED24 http://www.bavauto.com Folks who have access to JDM parts can also consider this: BREX "Stick Matrix" http://www.brex.jp/jp/matrixbulb/ Rear footwell lights, only for E92/3 (both driver and passenger side): 3 SMT LED 74 T5 Mini-Wedge Bulb White 12 volt DC SMD (have not tested these in person but heard they fit) http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/G...98403-1-2.html Unit(s) required: 2 sets Trunk: 42mm festoon Festoon Super Flux 6 LED Light 1 3/4 Inches / 42 mm http://www.ledlight.com/festoon-supe...hes-42-mm.aspx Unit(s) required: 1 Pics of the interior courtesy of Johnny Lin: ![]() ![]()

Thanks a lot Kev. I have been bugging him to put this list up, as I don't think any of the vendors here have anything as comprehensive as this list.
With that said, I have not tried all of the different kits, but I have tried one which provided me with errors and poor light output in the rear footwell area, and with looking at all of what is currently offered, there is not much to enhance that area that is so key to me (for some reason...don't ask. I like bright footwell lighting). Yes, the kits out there have a great convenience...being a kit. I think however that this solution may be better for those, like me, who will do a little shopping around.

What's the issue with the dome lights on the e93? Are they a different size bulb? These listed are error free, and are of great quality, so the typical map light problems aren't there, as far as I know.

Any way you could show the rear footwell lights too? Just want to see if they're any brighter than my bimmians were.
Thanks man!

also, not sure if I'm missing something, but I see that you listed 3 units for the front footwell lights. What about the passenger side footwell?

![]() My solution went a bit different than KEV. For under door and under dash, i install V-LED 2W. http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...68086-1-2.html These are 2 per package. You will need 2 package for both under door and under dash. For E92 rear footwall... i went beyond what KEV did... 5 side LED... http://autolumination.com/74.htm Matrix II 5 led You will need 4 of these.... You do need to bend off 4 plastic... that is in the way.. they are easily bend off.. DOOM light..... I am currently using http://superlumination.com/images/au...rray_cw_wm.jpg 6x 1 Watt led High Powered SMT Array The quality of the LED is not high.. i have to fiddle with the connection wire to get them both working... which was a disappointment, but they work... and Output is somehow feel less than BAVAUTO's 24LED.. and even less than the 2w under the door? I think i will purchase those again... Here is the magic bulb that everyone been looking for ... Map Light... and working when the engine is on... http://superlumination.com/images/au...us_1led_wm.jpg High Powered 5050 3 Chip SMT Array - Outfitted with Canbus Bulb-Out Warning Cancellation Chip these damn thing work like a charm ... but only 1 led on front.. so the light output isn't that high.. but they do work... All solutions i post work in 09 E92.. and all working when the engine is on... ![]()

Question. Which of the map lights is CONFIRMED here? I know that the one that Shinchan just posted is confirmed to work, but it is not bright enough. Are the ones you used confirmed working with engine on Kev? I like the look of the second one you posted, and don't mind paying the money if it's what I need.

Dumb question for an LED interior rookie.
do you have to use all LEDs or can you just change the ones you want... for example, say i only wanna put the LED in the door open courtesy lamps and foot wells, but no where else. Can i do that? without codes?

I am 99 percent sure that yes you can. I think that the only lights that are monitored by the car are the map/dome lights. The door lights aren't even monitored, nor are the footwells (from what this site has indicated) so yeah it should be fine.
I bought the entire interior worth of lights, combining both Shinchan and Kev's recommendations, but still need to purchase the map lights. I am assuming the map lights that Kev posted are error free, and I like the looks of the second one with the LEDS in the side in addition to the one pointing straight out of the top, but I need to know for sure before I order, as my dyed headliner can only take so much abuse as far as removing that console.

thanks... i think i might give this a try. I just don't want the whole interior of the car to be lit up like mid day when i open the door. Stock dome light is bright enough for me, I think the puddle lights and floor boards would look better with a little more light, maybe even blue??
